    1. [ARMISSIS] New List Admin.
    2. Karen Martin
    3. Hello Everyone, I will be your new list admin.and I'd like to introduce myself, my name is Karen Martin. I live in Texas, but was born in Blytheville. I've been doing genealogy going on 3 years. I'm also the list admin. for one of my family names. Now for the Miss.co. mailing list. I've read a lot of the archived messages and I can say, I'm impressed! I've seen a lot of useful information being posted for others searching Miss. co. Remember when posting to the list, use a descriptive subject line so that other readers will know what the message is about. You can put the details in the body of the message. Try not to use subjects like " My family roots",. People tend to overlook those. As of today. Aug.13, 2001, we have a total of 93 people subscribed to the list. So by that you can tell it's an active list. I want to thank Cheryl for giving me a chance to be list admin.and doing a great job getting the list up and running and for maintaining the list. She has done a great job. I hope I can do as good as she's done. Thanks again Cheryl. If you have any questions, you can contact me at [email protected] My family names connected to Miss. co. are Franks Gean Wise/Wyse Now let's get started! Effie's family lived in Mississippi Co. for a while, so maybe they were married there, although I've been told Dunklin Co., MO - but no record for them exists there. Thanks for any help!! 1. [ARMISSIS] Re: Wallaces in Mississippi Co.
    2. I am working on a book about Dell and have run across a Joe Wallace, living in Dell around 1920. He was on the city council in 1920 but is mentioned several times in the old city council records--one time, I believe, for plowing up a street to plant a garden. If this is the same Joe Wallace, my Mom remembers him living on the western edge of Dell, off Madison St. Also, a G. B. Jennings is listed several times in these same records for street taxes, etc. If you're interested in a copy of the transcription of the Dell town records, email me and I'll give you the details. [email protected] Hope this helps.........Dru

    3. Sue, What type of info would you have on the Bishops of Chickasawba township (Blytheville). My g,g,g grandfather William Bishop moved from Scott Co. MO. to Chickasawba township in 1844. When he moved there, there were only 4 white families and about 100 indians. He was for a time, the Constable for that section and also served as a deputy under Sheriff Bowen. His oldest son, Andrew Jackson Bishop was one of the areas first photographers, he taught school in Blytheville for 4 years, was a charter member and one of the founders of Chickasawba Lodge#134, he also owned a wagon and blacksmith shop in Blytheville and, he also enumerated the 1880 US Fed. census for Mississippi Co. Ark..Although my family was among the earliest settlers of Blytheville, I know very little of it's history. I do have an old photo of my g,g,g uncle at his store and in the photograph with his is W.H. Ogelsby (doctor who delivered my great grandfather and for whom my great grandfather was named after. William Hanson Ogelsby Bishop) and in the photo also is H.T.Blythe,(postmaster). Perhaps your Fields and Huey's the Bishops. I would like some history of the area if you have more. Also, My g,g,g,grandfathers older brother, Jackson Bishop, was of the earliest settlers of Osceola, moving there in 1836. My best to you...
