Surnames: Bratcher Classification: Queries Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/oV.2ADE/46.49.1 Message Board Post: Silas Bratcher is supposed to be my husband's ggrandfather. Some relatives show that he and Eliza Jane Shultz Bratcher had George Bratcher b. 2/13 1972 (Kentucky) d. 1/9/61 (CA). George married Ellen Brown 2/26/11 in Boynton OK. They in turn had LaHoma Bratcher in Council Hill, OK 12/27/11. She is my husband's mother. I would really be interested in the Bratcher history you have. I saw somewhere that Eliza's parents were a Mathias Shultz and a Mary Ann Shepherd. This is information that I found on the internet so I'm not sure about it. I have any additional info you might want on Ellen and George Bratcher if indeed you show them in the lineage you are researching. My e-mail is [email protected]
Karen, I would LOVE to have you look up a name for me. I had Dema do one, and have since found out I am mistaken about the person I assumed to be the right one. My G-Grandfather, Daniel Webster Watkins, I thought died in 1918 and I have found him in the 1920 census. OOPS. Could you look please? The small cemetery near Bassett is the Hill cemetery. Nearby at Sand Ridge is the Harston Cemetery. On the next road west of there, Bardstown, is the Louise Chapel Cemetery. The survey of the latter is complete (Thanks to Bob Brown) and is posted on the web. There is only a small portion of the Bassett Cemetery on line since it has not been surveyed in total. I am helping another researcher find some graves at Bassett Cemetery and will be going back, probably within the next month (I fell in a grave the last time that I was there). If you will email me direct ([email protected]) with the names and approximate dates, I will try to find your graves for you. Joyce Researching: Bennett, Higgins, Kelley, Starling, Perkins
Karen, Did your family own a drug store or grocery? My grandmother lived in Blytheville and were good friends with someone that owned a drug store. She named her daughter Bessie Frank. Now, I could be wrong about the store, but someone she knew, her daughter was named after. Her name was Martha Ann Lee(nee) McCain. She was married to Luther E. McCain. Luther was in business with some man, sorry I don't know his name. But Luther died 12-17-1935. They lived in Blytheville. Trying hard to find my family that lived there. Barbara
Peggy, I haven't run across that name yet. Mr. Bennett line came from Alabama....my ggf, Benjamin Franklin Bennett, was born in Alabama in 1826. According to the 1860 census for Mississippi County, Scott Township, there were several other Bennetts that I have been unable to tie to my line as yet. I don't think these are the same Franks. If they are I've never heard about them. My Franks lived in Cole Ridge area. My daddy and his siblings went to school at Bassett(I think that is the name), My grandparents moved to Blytheville in the 1920's from Alabama. They were Jesse E. and Ida Heath Franks. I have a Franks relative who owns or had a tack shop. I'll have to talk to my dad to get all the details. You can look at my website.
