    3. My great-grandfather George Harvey Polk was born between 1849 and 1861. His parents were Joseph Polk and Nancy Couch, and his siblings were Nancy, Belle, Frank, William, and Seliam. He may have been born in St. Clair, County, Illinois or St. Louis, Missouri. The earliest census I've located him in is in 1900 in Calhoun County, Mississippi. He moved there in 1900 after having lived and married in Mississippi County, Arkansas. He lived in several counties of Mississippi before moving to Walker County, Alabama before 1920. His marriage to my great-grandmother (nee: Pittman) was his second marriage. He had two children from his first marriage named Pearl and Connie. Pearl was born in Tennessee and Connie in Kentucky, their births being possibly between 1895 and 1899. I have not been able to locate Pearl or Connie in any census year except 1920 where they are young adults living with their father, George Polk, in Alabama. Either Pearl or Connie may have married and moved to New York. I'm trying to find the link between George and his parents, his siblings, the daughters from his first marriage, and earlier Polk ancestors. Any information on this line would be greatly appreciated! Kathy

Surnames: BRONAUGH/BURNAUGH Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/oV.2ADE/1139 Message Board Post: I want to visit Island 26 (also called Forked Deer Island). My Great-Great-Grandfather, Thomas BRONAUGH/BURNAUGH, is listed as living there on the 1890 Veterans' Census. I'm not sure if it's in TN or AR. It looks like it would be easier to reach from AR. On the map of AR I have, it shows several names either on or near Island 26--Tellier Island, Sadie Lee Ldg, Daniels Point Ldg, Fisher Ldg, and Ashport Ferry, and O'Donnell Bend. I'd really like to make contact with someone who knows the area well and could help me figure out how I might get to the island--and obtain a map of the island... I'm also really interested in life on the island in the 19th century--early 20th century. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Cindy Kennedy
