Good Morning Susan, While I cannot help you with Wilson Undertakers, I thought you might be interested in some first hand history of Wilson. I lived there as a child for a short period of time in the 1930s. It was a dot on the map and still is. Mr. Wilson owned the town and the townspeople and to my knowledge still does, just a younger generation of Wilsons. The people of the town worked in the mills, lumber and alfalfa, and were paid in chits which could be redeemed at the country store for food and/or clothes. The folks of the town really did "owe their souls to the country store." My father, his brother and their father all worked and lived in Wilson. We lived on what is today called Levee Street, just at the foot of the banks of the Mississippi River. You didn't want to be there when it flooded. During my June 1996 visit with cousins, I was remembering this as a "one room tar papered shack". One of my cousins quickly spoke up and said, "It had two rooms!" He and his family had lived in a tent on down the levee from us where he was born on the floor of that tent. After my father, mother and I moved, he and his family had moved into our previously occupied "mansion". Such humble beginnings for all of us. We had also lived for a short time, in prefab row houses near the alfalfa mill. My grandfather also met the daily train, picked up the mail, took it to the post office for sorting and then did the delivering. These were humble beginnings and we've "come a long way, baby." I say to my off springs, "Don't forget your beginnings! We are the "little people." Happy Hunting. I guess I am looking for burial records but it would be nice to find their graves as well. Anything that might list a maiden name for her, even a death date would be great. They were married somewhere in TN but nobody seems to remember where, so I am at a brick wall to figure out what her maiden name was. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Susan

I believe she was born in Memphis, moved to Miss Co. Ark in the 1860's with her family. Her husband was E P Williams, a blacksmith. Do not know her parents, but the 1850 Memphis census listed an elderly woman living with the family. There is an elderly Bunch woman who is one of the first buried in Elmwood Cemetery in Memphis. Mariah had a sister living in Mississippi Co., married to Pete Kendall. The census said they were from Virginia, but I believe they were a part of the Williams family that came from Nashville.

My great great grandmother was Elizabeth Ann Williams Hannah Kieser. She was born in Memphis in 1841. Her father was E P Williams. Some how they ended up in south Mississippi County, Ark, during the 1860's. I always thought Will Riley was her brother. I do not have my records with me at the moment but am responding with what I remember. I have been to Osceola, read about the Williams family there and believe they are the same family. It is interesting that you say that W R W's father was a blacksmith. My GT GT Grandmothers father (EP Williams) was listed as a blacksmith in the 1850 Memphis census. It, also says that they came from Virginia. I still believe it is the same family. That could have been their origin before coming into Tennessee. I have my Great Grandmother's diary, and she mentions an Uncle Will. She also talks of a grandfather being called Squire Williams and being of Hopefie! ld Plantation. There is an old picture of a very old house that she made the comment that her grandfather practiced law there. After visiting Osceola, I now believe that Squire Williams and the grandfather who practiced law may have been her great grandfather, perhaps the one who came from Nashville. Just speculation. I am interested in her Grandmother Williams. She was a Bunch. An elderly Bunch is one of the first graves in Elmwood Cemetery in Memphis. Her grandmother had a sister who lived in Miss. Co.
