Am wondering if he was married between his marriages to Lucinda Brackens and Eliza Kissell. Maybe to a woman named Sarah, who was mother to my g-grandmother, Henrietta or Henry. When Sarah? died, Henry and her sister were placed in two different foster homes. Henry used the last name of Wells which may have been the name of her foster family. Henry was born July 6, 1878? Died July 8, 1926 of tuberculosis in Blytheville, AR. Was married to John Henry Miller. Henry previously lived in TN. We think her mother died when Henry was around nine or ten years old. On Scott's monument (Elmwood/Maplewood, in Blytheville, AR) his birth date is given as Dec. 1, 1850. Died Nov. 16, 1921. Eliza (may have been called Lizzie) born Jan.8, 1866, died Dec. 4, 1956. Their son? Kearny is also there, along with E.O. and Lola Forsyth, Hazel Louise (infant) and James B. Forsyth.

Thanks so much for the reply Joyce. I have also spoken with the older lady before she died. I have spoken with her son on the phone and his wife via email. I got the same andwer. NO RECORDS. It is beyond me how they knew where to dig a new grave if it was not plotted out. They have given me permission to place a memorial stone in the cemetery. I suppose I better start thinking of doing that. The real posibilities of finding the right "spot" is looking very slim. Thanks you very much. I shutter to think of some of my ancestors going through what I have to find his burial spot. Laura, if he was buried in Bassett Cemetery, it is very possible that there is just not a record for him, even though he is buried there. My husband's mother was buried there and there is no record. We have searched high and low and visited with the older lady that had the records and then with the older gentleman that had the records, and nobody had a records for her. My husband was 14 years old and went to the funeral and knows the approximate location. Guess that is all we will ever know. Lee Wilson came from Tipton Co. TN to AR and many other people came from there also. My husband's grandmother and grandfather married in Tipton Co. He was living in MS Co. AR and Tipton Co. was just accross the river. My husband's grandfather spoke highly of Lee Wilson also. His father lived beside the levee and worked at the "Mill". Everyone was poor and times were hard for them all. At one time, Lee Wilson owned everyone home and business in the town of Wilson. However, over a period of about the last 20 years, he has sold most of the homes in town to private owners. Wilson, like many delta towns has now grown much in the last few years. Joyce McFarland

Laura, You were also looking for a TN marriage but did not know the county. If the marriage was before 1860, I might be able to help you. There is an index of early TN marriages prior to 1860. Delores, thank you for that fascinating story. I KNOW my father worked for Mr. Wilson and thought very highly of him. He always talked about his wealth and what a fine man he was. I also know that my parents were sharecroppers and have heard Daddy talk many times of the hard time that were had by all. I also remember him speaking of the river when it flooded. They lived in Wilson Arkansas in 1930 when my sister was born and in Keiser Arkansas two years later when my oldest brother was born. I think our humble beginings made a better person of me. I was far too young to remember the really tough times my elder siblings had but have heard many horror stories. I wish I had started my research about 20 years ago. ( don't we all? haha) Thanks again for the story. I would appreciate hearing from you privately. mamabear@semo.net. Can you please tell me about the posibilities of finding an obit for someone having died in Wilson Arkansas in 1931? I apologize for jumping in here but am at the end of my rope looking for my grand father's burial site. I ordered a death certificate for him and all it said was he was buried in Bassett Arkansas. No one there has any records of him as having been buried in the cemetery there. The death certificate indicated "self" in place of a funeral home so, I am assuming he was laid out at home. I know they did that back then. I am hoping perhaps the newspaper may have an obit.... Is the one you listed the one I need to contact or is that in the right area? Anything will be appreciated.
