But back in the 1960s my professor of Texas History was Dr. Rex Strickland. At the time, I did not know that he had written a thesis on Miller Co. It was called "Miller County, Arkansas Territory, the Frontier that Men Forgot". It was published in "Chronicles of Oklahoma" Vol. XVIII (1940). I have not read the publication, but I think you can probably find a copy in one of the larger libraries in TX or OK or use interlibrary loan. I don't know if Dr. Rex Strickland was from Miller Co or not, but he may have written some information about the Stricklands there in the early 1820s and 1830s.
