Armes, son of the late George and Agnes Atherton Armes was born at Essex, on August 4, 1920 and died at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau on November 12, 2004 at the age of 84. Mr. Armes spent most of his life in Stoddard County. He was a member of the Pollock Church of Christ and had served as an Elder on the Bloomfield and Fredericktown Church of Christ. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in World War II. He retired in 1982 from the USDA, Soil Conservation Service. On April 16, 1949 he was married to Alberta Burkhart. Survivors include his wife Alberta Armes, of the home in Bloomfield; three sons, Terry Armes, of Bloomfield, Gary Armes of Masonville, Colo., and Randy Armes, of Jackson; three brothers, Robert Armes of Milan, Theodore Armes, of Vanduser, and Dewey Armes of Warrensburg; four sisters, Geneva Parker of Kansas City, Laura Almond, of Lennon, Mich., Alice Catherine Wagoner, of Flatonia, Texas, and Mary Williams of Lathrop; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and other relatives and many friends survive to mourn his passing. Mr. Armes was preceded in death by three brothers and one grandson. Visitation will be at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday, November 14. Funeral services will be held following the visitation at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Bro. Dale Grissom officiating.
