    1. Obituary for James M Rogers
    2. Mysty McPherson
    3. The "only" reference I've found to James M. Rogers is that he's a tax payer in North Fork Township MCAR in 1890. He's not in the MCAR 1880 census. I find reference to a James Rogers (no middle initial) in Matney Township, Baxter Co 1880, aged 25, divorced, living as a boarder in the John M Martin household. I think you'll find the period from 1880 thru 1900 is difficult to research most everywhere in the US. That's because there's no 1890 census. However, armed with a geographic knowledge of the area you're researching, you'll find there are possible sources of records in many places. If you'll locate the Oakland area of Marion Co on a map, you'll find that it's almost completely separated from the rest of the county by White River (and after 1852 by Bull Shoals Lake). You'll find that commerce of all sorts was easier to get to in the Ozark Co MO area - and after Baxter Co was created in 1873 it, too, became important to those "stranded" in the Oakland area. For the most part, those living in the Oakland area traveled to Yellville to pay their taxes - and that's about it. Although Marion Co had the Mountain Echo newspaper in 1893 when James M Rogers apparently died, there's a good chance there will be no obit there. First off, there was very, very little "back-and-forth" with Oakland. Second, this was the height of the mining boom in the area. The paper was filled with "mining news" and little else. Seldom is there an obit to be found for anyone. You might luck out and find an obit in Ozark Co MO or, possibly, Baxter Co AR. For Ozark Co Mo go to http://www.rootsweb.com/~ozarkmo. For Baxter Co AR go to http://www.BaxterCountyOnline.com/baxgen AND http://www.pastracks.com/states/arkansas/baxter. Good luck with your search.
