It has become necessary to remind some that html (hyper text markup language) and rtf (rich text format) should be turned off before posting to Rootsweb mail lists. There are several reasons for this request. 1) Rootsweb archives all of our posts and they have a finite amount of space to do this. HTML takes up a lot of space. 2) Some people with older software cannot read HTML or RTF. The "turn off" instructions for several different mail programs are posted on the following page. http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/help/html-off.html Please select one from the 8 e-mail programs listed. If your's is not on the list, the instructions for one of the others might help you to turn off this function in your own e-mail program. Please do not cross post to different lists by including several mail list addressses on the "To" line or "CC" line. Another thing: Do not send attachments to the lists. Most will not get through and those that do are usually not readable. ROOTSWEB requests that listowners make this information available. Don't be offended if I post this message often. I have copied it and pasted it so that I can copy and post it often for newbies. Rhio listowner
