Dear Mysty, Regarding my mistake on Mary Elizabeth MCCRACKEN. Here is where I got that. In the SC Turnbo Stories, the one called "Brief Items of Interest Which Occurred At Yellville and on Jimmies CreeK in the Long Ago." I see now what caused my confusion. I went back and read it again. Turnbo was quoting Billy Parker when he said, "My wife whose name in Elizabeth and who is a daughter of Elam McCracken..." This was written in a different paragraph than the beginning of the quotation, and I didn't realize he was still quoting Parker. Silly me! Will have to get that changed. Thanks. Pat
Yes, Turnbo is really difficult to read - and understand - sometimes. I've gone back over some of that stuff a dozen times trying to make heads or tails out of it. The head archivist with the MO State Archives, Lynn Morrow, co-authored a really interesting book, "White River Chronicles of S C Turnbo," that explains tons about the contents of the Turnbo manuscripts. Matter of fact, Lynn did the indexing for the manuscripts for the Internet. Glad you figured it out so quickly. Takes some of us forever <grin> Mysty shakerag@mtnhome.com ***************************************** ----- Original Message ----- From: Patricia Gausnell <gausnell@wmni.net> To: <ARMARION-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, February 01, 2001 11:56 PM Subject: MCCracken > Dear Mysty, > Regarding my mistake on Mary Elizabeth MCCRACKEN.
