Hi Don, Are these MELTONs by any chance a line that came through N. AR from Giles Co TN? If they are, let me know, because I have a lot of Melton files to share with you. Most of mine are associated with the CARTER, HOPE, and CRAIG lines, too. Is that familiar in any way? I am just starting some research on the Melton line, the ones I currently are looking at came from Cannon Co. TN to Marion Co. AR however I have done quite a bit of looking at the Izard Co. AR Meltons and am in the process of working them out as well. They are likewise from TN. Don, Where is Cannon County, TN located? Giles Co TN is located on the central/southern border of TN/AL. It is adjacent to Lincoln Co TN, where other Meltons were living also at the time. Do you find or have any of your MELTON families with CRAIG/HOPE/CARTER families in Cannon Co TN ? Iva Elvie Melton (daughter of John C & Fanny [Reed] Melton) b MCAR ca 1893 m MCAR 10 April 1907 W J [William Joshua] Gilliam (son of Benjamin Franklin & Sophia Ann [Weast] Gilliam) b MCAR April 1881 d 1954 bu Yellville Cemetery. They were married by County Judge J D Summers. The marriage license says he's aged 23 and she's aged 14. It also says her name is Elvie so I'd guess that's what she was called. Pretty sure they moved to Harrison, Boone Co AR.
