    3. Susan, if you'll go to the Marion Co web page http://www.rootsweb.com/~armarion, you'll find the heading "Post Offices." If you'll look at that, you'll find that, in the Rea Valley area, there was a post office named Onset from 1884-1914. When application was made to open this post office, it was requested that it's name be Reas. This was not approved by the US Post Office Department. It was named Onset. From 1912-1953 there was a post office called Rea Valley. It was located in the NW1/4 of the NE1/4 of Section 11 in Township 18 North Range 15 West. The information for this little book of mine was taken primarily from "From Memdag to Norsk; A Historical Dictionary of Arkansas Post Offices 1832-1971" by Russell Baker of the Arkansas History Commission http://www.state.ar.us/ahc/ahc.html. While I was doing research for this book, Russell showed me the microfilm containing the original applications for post offices. Most included maps or sketches of the proposed location, while some had interesting bits of trivia attached to them. I got the distinct impression from Russell that there are no consolidated records of postmasters, but that data of this sort *might* be scattered among US Post Office Department records. He'd not taken the time to search thru all of them on the off chance he'd come up with enough to make it worth the time and expense. And, as I said before, the employment of mail carriers was and is strictly the purview of the individual postmasters. Whether the postmaster for Onset and Rea Valley kept such records or not, I have no idea. If they did, I've not heard of anyone having found them anywhere. Hope this helps with your documentation problem. Sorry I can't be of more help.
