    3. Apparently you have been to the Marion Co web page, Ann. The information there on relocated cemeteries is about the most complete and concise you'll find anywhere. You might try the Corps of Engineers, whose office is in Mountain Home, Baxter Co AR, for more information than you obtained from the web page. Their phone is 870-431-4489. I doubt they have anything other than what's on the web page - all they were in charge of was moving the bodies to new locations when Bull Shoals Lake was created in the early 1950s, thus flooding cemeteries, churches, homes, whole towns. There is no government office or similar place in this county (or any other area county) from which you can order an official death or burial certificate. So far as I know, a personal visit to New Oakland Cemetery with good photographic equipment is the closest you'll get to documentation. Whether the headstones have names/dates is somewhat moot. Most "stones" around here were chunks of field stone, maybe with the initials or the name and possibly a date or two scratched on them. (These were moved by the Corps of Engineers *if* they existed). They definitely were *not* what we consider a grave stone today. Whatever form the original stones had, the elements have played havoc with all types. Similarly cattle, farmers with tractors and bush hogs, floods, land developers, and the like have all done their share of cemetery destruction and desecration. Again, a personal visit would be the best way to ascertain this. Maybe someone on this list lives near the New Oakland Cemetery and would be willing to check this out for you. How about it, list members? Can anyone help Ann?
