The Historic Genealogical Society of Marion Co has just published "Gleanings of Pioneer History" by W. R. Jones. Owner/editor of "The Mountain Echo" for many years, Jones memorialized much of the historical and genealogical data found in his newspaper in around 1928. Many of his stories were told to him by the children and grandchildren of the early pioneer settlers of the county. With basically no county records prior to the Aug 1887 courthouse fire, Marion Co researchers have leaned heavily on writers such as W. R. Jones for information that can be found nowhere else. "Gleanings of Pioneer History" officially goes on sale Saturday, 2 June, at the 12th Annual North Arkansas Ancestor Fair in Leslie. It's small, approximately 5" x 7" and soft bound.
