Judy, you can find info on Dr George Francis Elam on the 1870, 1880, and *reconstructed* 1890 MCAR census in Hampton Township. And there's quite a bit of strictly geneo data on him and the Elam and the McEntire families in "Genealogies of MCAR Families 1811-1900" published by the Historic Genealogical Society of MCAR in 1997. He m/1 Rachel Dulcina McEntire who is the daughter of Champion & Sarah B (Waters) McEntire. She was b NC too. He m/2 Ellen Copeland who is the daughter of Francis Marion & Elizabeth Jane (___) Copeland. She was b in MCAR. He and Rachel had 3 children. He and Ellen had 8 children. Hope this is useful to you.
