    3. Many of the old timers referred to Tulsa as Tulsey Town mainly because of the way some of the Creeks pronounced Tulsa. Tulsa / Tulsey was the name of the Creeks home in AL. The Creeks named the area around the council oak Tulsa long before the white man showed up. As an FYI the council oak is still standing and not long ago several cuttings were taken and new trees started because of the age of the oak and it's health right now isn't the best. One of the new oaks will be planted at TU. And the rest are being nurtured so that if the original oak finally dies there will another to take it place.
