Wakley, here's what HGSMCA has in "Genealogies of Marion Co Families 1811-1900" re the wife of Presley DeVoe Blankenship. From the sources cited, this data undoubtedly came from "Reminiscent History of the Ozark Region" by Goodspeed (pub ca 1894). PRESLEY DEVOE "P.D." BLANKENSHIP b NC 30 Nov 1841 d MCAR 2 Nov 1896 kicked by a horse bu Jefferson Hall Cemetery m NC 20 Feb 1860 LOUISA MARTHA (RAY) KOON b NC 1 Aug 1843 d MCAR 14 June 1896. Emigrated from NC via Boone Co. AR 1870, settling in the Eros area on Hampton Creek. I'm not real sure this is correct, though. Louisa was apparently born in 1843 and married in 1860, aged about 16 1/2. Her first child was born May 1861 when she'd have been about 17 1/2. I'm having trouble seeing space in there for her to have been married to a Koon before she married "P D" unless those folks were into marrying at *very* young ages. +++++++++++++++++++++++++ Couldn't stand it anymore. Went on a search thru NC. On the Yancey Co NC web page, found that Presley Blankenship m Yancey Co NC 20 Feb 1850 Louisa Ray. His brother Govan M Blankenship m Yancey Co NC 8 Sep 1867 Sarah Ray.
