    3. Good Morning Mike: If I've already answered this please just chalk it up to old age and over work. There were/are a lot of Flippins in Marion Co. However, I'm not researching that line. You might want to visit the Marion Co site and do a search for your family. I'm also forwarding this message to the Marion Co list because there are a lot of very knowledge folks on the list who might be able to help you. <LIST FOLKS - please reply directly to Mike: [email protected] Linda homepage: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~haas MarionCoAR: http://www.rootsweb.com/~armarion/ TulsaCoOK: http://www.rootsweb.com/~oktulsa2 MuskogeeCoOk: http://www.rootsweb.com/~okmuskog SurnameLists: H.A.A.S/H.A.S.S. Goodman, born abt.1838 in KY. He was my Great Grandfather, and possibly came to Marion County with his father, Joseph, b. 1818 in KY (or it could've been his older half brother or an uncle, we aren't sure) around 1850. We cannot connect him with anyone specifically. We are trying to find out if he was the husband of Elizabeth Flippen. Any help would be tremendously appreciated. Patti Goodman McSwain

    3. Patti, I can't guarantee that the wife of George W Goodman was Elizabeth Flippin. I would guess not because the 1850 census says she was born in Ohio and because there are apparently no references to such a union in the Flippin family - at least none that any researcher around here has come across. The Historic Genealogical Society of Marion Co AR (HGSMCA for short) is compiling a second volume of Marion Co families and the Goodman family will be in this one. Here's what I can tell you about George W Goodman based on the research done for this book. George is found in the MCAR 1840 census in White River Township b 1835-1840 in the household of Jesse Goodman, as are his parents Joseph L and Mary Goodman. George is found in the MCAR 1850 census in Buffalo Fork Township aged 12 living with Joseph L and Mary Goodman. George is found in the Baxter Co 1880 census in Big Flat Township aged 42 with his wife E[lizabeth] D b OH 1833, daughter Albina b AR 1867, and son Henry Pate b AR 1872. George is found in "Early Baxter Co Marriage Records 1873-1892" marrying there 3 May 1888 Lorena Brown. We've not located George in the 1860 and 1870 census records yet. Most of the Goodman family and some of the Flippins went to Dangerfield TX bef 1850. Because of the horrors around here during the Civil War, George may have taken his family to join them. Or he may be in a county we've not yet researched. Hope this is helpful. If you have any questions, I'll do my best to answer them.
