    3. Thanks Mysty for your help with my CAIN line. Now I would like to ask all for some help with another related Marion County line: Mary Susan LANCE/LANTZ (b. Dec 1854 in Mo) md James C CAIN about 1876, probably Marion County. They lived in the James Creek Twp. Their children: Lillie May, Amanda J., Lydia Belle, Sarah Elizabeth, Columbus Washington, William Spencer, and Melinda Margaret. Family tradition says her parents were Nicholas Washington LANCE and Jensee MCCRACKEN. I have seached diligently and have found no Nicholas Washington LANCE nor a Jensee MCCRACKEN. I have found a Mary S. LANCE of the right age and birthstate living with Elam and Jane MCracken on the 1860 and 1870 censuses. I think she might be the daughter of their daughter Jane McCracken, who was with them on the 1850 census of Cannon Co, TN, and does not appear on any other records that I have found. I think she might have md. someone named LANCE, and then died soon after Mary's birth. Jane MCCRACKEN the wife of Elam was also called Jincy or Gencie, so either her daughter Jane was also called that, or perhaps Mary's children just remembered that she was raised by a woman name Jensee/Jincy/Gencie. Who was the father? I have thought he might be the son of Moses LANCE/LANTZ of Ozark Co, MO, but which one? Was there another LANCE family that he might have been part of? On the 1860 census of Marion Co, in Sugarloaf twp, there is a Sarah Lance as head of household, and she has a Mary E. Lance age 4, b. ARK. This might be my Mary, but her middle initial in wrong as is her birthstate and year. On the 1870 census of Marion Co, in Rapps Barren Twp there is a Zelpha (?) LANCE age 60 living near a Hardy M. and a Charles LANCE. I have apparently found this family on the 1850 census of Cannon Co, TN with the parents given as Henry and Zelphy LANCE. Might they have had an older son named Nicholas Washington? Mary Susan Lance's daughter Melinda remebered that her mother had a half-sister named Osborn. This means that either her mother or father had another marriage. If the half-sister's maiden name was Osborn, then this means that her mother, Jensee, remarried a man named OSBORN. But if her married name was OSBORN, then she might have been a LANCE and md a man named OSBORN. In the records of the Wildcat Cem, there are records of Jones Osborn and Jency Osborn. The relative listed is SR Osborn, a great grandson. Does anyone know who they are? I see that Jones OSBORN was married to Sarah BAILEY. Their last child was born about 1845. Could this mean his wife died and might he have remarried to Jency MCCRACKEN LANCE?
