    3. Dear Mysty, I still am not ready to drop the CAIN/CASEBOLT connection possibility. I do think that Jeremiah CREWS' son James is the one that md Avarilla. Their marriage is in the ARMARION marriage entries, in 1886. So if this is so, and Avarilla was Minerva Casebolt's daughter, her children would still be Jeremiah Crews' grandchildren also. Wouldn't they? Another interesting thing I noticed in that 1900 census entry is that where it asked for number of children by this mother, Minerva answered "1". So I think the 3 children listed with her and Robert on the 1880 census were not hers but Louisa, Roberts first wife. Anyway, its still a theory, but I'm not ready to give up on it yet. Thanks again. 3. I'm probably boring everyone to death and beyond, but here I go again. Patricia, for my own information (and maybe yours), I've (I think) sorted out the Crews and Treas families and how they may or may not relate to your Cain family - and maybe more besides. Maybe some list members have some in put :-))) Wouldn't that be nice? MCAR 1880 census Sugar Loaf Township. Jeremiah Crews 38 KY KY KY. Martha 40 wife MO KY KY. James 14 son IL KY MO [b 1866]. One was their daughter Virginia who is shown on the 1880 census as married to Allen Anderson. They are living with her parents. The other was Ethel who was born ca 1883 - after the 1880 census was taken. She married George Robison 1900. J E Crews married Avarilla Cain in 1886. Charles E Treas married Fannie Crews, daughter of Jeremiah and Martha (___) Crews. Nanny Treas (sister of Charles) [b 1877] married G W Crews 1894. Then, Nancy Treas (sister of Charlie) [b 1877] married W S Fisher 1900. And in 1900 (according to "Marion Co AR 1890" by Helen McMindes), George Crews is living with his brother-in-law Charles Treas. Nanny/Nancy Treas/Crews (according to "Marion Co. AR 1890) is living with her parents.. Now, in 1900, we have Robert Casebolt married to Manerva ___ b MO ca 1841. In his household we find two grandchildren, John M Crews b Nov 1889 AR MO AR and Marie Crews b 1895. Six years between children is a long time. I'm suggesting that *possibly* John M Crews is the son of J E and Avarilla and that his parents are both deceased or Avarilla is deceased and J E has remarried. I'm also suggesting that *probably* Marie Crews is the daughter of George W and Nanny Treas. My biggest hangup with this is that the father of John M Crews was born in MO when James Crews (son of Jeremiah & Martha) was born in IL. However, I'm still having a problem with Jim and Minerva Cain being buried together in Cain Cemetery, with Minerva Cain being born in KY, and with Manerva ___, 2nd wife of Robert Casebolt, being born in MO. And I'm not *real* sure the J E Crews that married Avarilla Cain is the James Crews who is the son of Jeremiah and Martha. All of your conjecture is entirely possible. I'm just sort of playing Devil's Advocate - trying to make aboslutely sure there's no 'coon in the woodpile here. I'll see if I can find more information when (and if) I go to the library this week (I've dinner guests tomorrow night and Friday is my 70th here and Saturday is another birthday here - and I'm exhausted just thinking about it all <grin>. Will check the 1900, 1910, and 1920 microfilm *whenever* I get to the library next. Oh, how I wish someone would put them in print <wow>. Mull all this over. It's rather interesting - proposes more questions than it answers, that's for sure!!! Mysty shakerag@mtnhome.com
