    3. Neither of these families is easy to research, Pat. Suggest you go to http://www.rootsweb.com/~armarion. Scroll down to Elam McCracken. Then email Helen Lease - her address is at the top of the page. She's been very helpful to me on this Elam McCracken family. Oh, and I think you'll find that Elam's wife's name was Algencia Maxey and she was called "Gencie." And I also think you'll find the vast majority of records spell it Lantz. They're not English - they apparently came from Hamburg, Germany. One gal I know of who's top notch at the Lantz family is Joyce (Lantz) Havner. She used to live in Mt Home, but she's not listed there in the new phone book. Maybe someone on the list knows how to contact her. Another that's been a big help is Linda Sheehan in Ca. if you'd like her address, I can send it to you off list. Lewis D Osborne (son of Jonas & Sarah [___] Osborne) b TN 1838/9 m Margaret L McCracken (daughter of Elam & Algencia "Gencie" [Maxey] McCracken) b TN 1842. Actually, the more I dig around trying to find answers for you in the individial family files I have (two sets - "Big Blue Book" and its Supplement), the more confused I get (and the census records are no great help <groan>. Why not go to the MCAR page (see URL above), print out the Elam McCracken and Osborne families (and any others that seem to fit) and see what you can put together. Meantime I'll spend some time digging thru this mess and see what I can come up with. Meantime, would you share with me what you have from Cannon Co TN, please? Working with unknowns (other McCracken kids, for instance) can make for an awful lot of mistakes. And, if anyone on the list can help Pat, please do so. Thanks. I think she might be the daughter of their daughter Jane McCracken, who was with them on the 1850 census of Cannon Co, TN, and does not appear on any other records that I have found. I think she might have md. someone named LANCE, and then died soon after Mary's birth. Jane MCCRACKEN the wife of Elam was also called Jincy or Gencie, so either her daughter Jane was also called that, or perhaps Mary's children just remembered that she was raised by a woman name Jensee/Jincy/Gencie. > > Who was the father? This means that either her mother or father had another marriage. If the half-sister's maiden name was Osborn, then this means that her mother, Jensee, remarried a man named OSBORN. But if her married name was OSBORN, then she might have been a LANCE and md a man named OSBORN. > > In the records of the Wildcat Cem, there are records of Jones Osborn and Jency Osborn. Could this mean his wife died and might he have remarried to Jency MCCRACKEN LANCE?

    3. Did your Lantz family go west, like NE? And do you have a Harry Lantz? I am not sure where the Sioux Co., NE Lantz family came from but could find out.
