Hi; Any ideas on who a Catherine Yaber might be that appears on the Pension Application Catherine Tabor filed on Jones Ledbetter. It could be wrong spelling. According to the Ledbetter genealogy, Catherine Nation Ledbetter Tabor was living with daughter Fanny when she died. But I have also found conflicting information on Ledbetter. I also wonder if her sons by Tabor were Henry and Jake. Both Nation records and Ledbetter say that was their names but I have found lots of mistakes on Nation. I did find some Tabors on the census records in Marion CO. but have no way of connecting them. Thanks Thelma
Thelma, I'd guess this would be Catherine Tabor. Often the "T" in some handwriting could very easily be mistaken for a "Y." We have pretty extensive data on the Tabors in MCAR, but I find none with a wife named Catherine nor any reference to a Henry or a Jake/Jacob. The Tabors were a prolific bunch that spread like weeds over much of the nation so they're not real easy to track. And, like most families, they used the same given names over and over and over. I'm thinking this Tabor and Catherine (Nation) Ledbetter met up somewhere in MO. There's a good chance they'd be listed in the MO 1870 Census Index done by Accelerated Indexing several years ago. Seems to me Heritage Quest has these, but I'm not sure. This would at least pinpoint which county they were in at the time which could make further research easier. These indices exist for 1850, 1860, and 1870 for most if not all the US and are very useful.
