Certainly Dorcas Lightfoot was in the area at the time. Know that she would have been about 72 during the time of the Trail of Tears. I believe she may have died in Lumpkin Co., Georgia about 1836. There are no Duncans or Lightfoots listed on the roster. I am including a family group sheet, note that Thomas Benge III, is the right age and I do not have a wife for him. Maybe you can do some research on this and let me know what you find. I believe that I am more inclined at this time to believe that Dorcas Benge Lightfoot, may have been so named for her mothers side of the family. As you know the middle name of many Indians was taken from their mother's maiden name. We do not know an English name for her mother. Her father Capt. John Lightfoot was married to "Ga-Ho-Ga" from the Cherokee Deer Clan. The son is referred to as Edmond Benge Duncan, that would not be out of order if his grandmother was a Benge. The records mostly show that she married Charles Gordon Duncan in 1784 and Edmond was born same year. Note, depending on who you believe, the other kids come in line just like one family.
