I hope you don't mind, Barbara, but I'm sending this response to your email to the ARMARION list in hopes that someone out there might be able to help you. The 1930 census won't be available until at least April 2002. We have the 1900, 1910, and 1920 census on microfilm, but they probably won't be of much help to you if Dorsey Kisner wasn't born until ca 1925. I won't have access to these microfilm until at least day after tomorrow - they're at the library. Of course, these are federal records rather than county so with no more information than you've given me, a trip to the county courthouse probably wouldn't be very productive. However, there is a Marion Co AR reconstructed 1890 census (the originals for basically the entire US were burned in a fire before they were transcribed). In "Marion Co AR 1890" by Helen McMindes I find the following: J F (Joseph Francis) Kisner b Aug 1859 AR TN MO. Paying taxes 1890 in Tomahawk Township. [son of Jacob Kisner, killed by bushwhackers in MO. Joe is in Hampton Township in 1900. Jacob's wife came to AR and remarried, it is thought to a Pumphrey. This data from Sam Kisner, grandson of Joe.] Sarah wife b March 1859 AR TN TN. Married 16 years, has had 8 children, 6 living per the 1900 census. [daughter of James & Jane (___) Pulem/Pulliam in Tomahawk Township 1880.] James Jacob son b Oct 1884 AR AR AR (m Essie Dugger). Owen W son b Oct 1886 AR AR AR (m Maude L Trammel). Hettie day b Oct 1888 AR AR AR (m Richard Swafford). In "Marriage Records of Marion Co 1905-1917, Books I and J" by Marian Burnes & Vicki Roberts, I find: Owen Kisner aged 20 of Verona m MCAR 2 Sep 1906 Maude Trammell aged 14 of Verona. Consent by groom's father J F Kisner. Consent by brides father Jim Trammell. Ceremony performed by George Wilson, JP. Alzerina Kisner aged 18 of Verona m MCAR 22 Aug 1912 Luther Anderson aged 22 of Verona. J H Hudson, JP. J F Kisner aged 57 of St Joe, Searcy Co AR m MCAR 16 Oct 1916 Mrs J B Williams aged 58 of St Joe, Searcy Co AR. J H Hudson, JP. In "Cemeteries of Marion Co" by Lester & Marian Burnes I find: Anderson Flat Cemetery. Located about 1/3 mile off State highway 235 between Bruno and Pindall. Most burials are from the early 1900s, but the cemetery began a bit earlier. It is large, sell kept and has few stones with no names and dates. The cemetery is well fenced with a chain link fence. It is adjacent to Anderson Flat Church and fire house. Walsie J Kisner b 7 March 1892 d 9 May 1912. Owen W Kisner, s/o Joseph, b 3 Oct 1886 d 13 Sep 1968. Leroy Kisner b 26 Oct 1935 d 15 April 1979. Alma A Kisner b 26 Oct 1899 d 4 May 1900. Sallie M Kisner b 16 March 1859 d 30 March 1909. [apparently Sarah, wife of Joseph] J F Kisner b 20 Aug 1859 d 24 Feb 1936. Ray Hurple Kisner b 14 April 1911 d 16 July 1973. Glen Kisner b 1914 d 1934. Maybe with this for starters you'll recognize a name or something. If you'd like, I can check the 3 census records for you, but I doubt I'll find Dorsey. Oh, yes. Birth and death records are available from Little Rock, but you'll need the birth/death date and place before you can get a copy. Mysty shakerag@mtnhome.com ----- Original Message ----- From: Matt Wallace To: shakerag@mtnhome.com Sent: Tuesday, June 12, 2001 11:23 PM Subject: needle in a haystack My name is Barbara J. Wallace. I live at 414 Riverboat Bend, Dayton, Texas 77535. My email is barbie67@bigfoot.com. My dilemma...my father was adopted. Found out that his real dad wasn't his biological dad. Found out that his biological dad doesn't know about him. My biological grandfather is a Dorsey Kisner. Not sure if he went by his middle name. Found out, he lived and or had family in Yellville, Arkansas. He went back and forth from Yellville to Idaho during 1940's. He would have been born in the 1920's. My guess 1925+/-. Have contacted the Fayetteville Public Library. Are yall connected to them? My father has multiple medical problems that my girls are now having some problems with. Doc suggested I start digging up info and do some genetic tracing. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Sincerely, Barbie
