Remember, folks, the Trail of Tears - and the Benge Route - occurred in 1838. Remember, too, that those on this route traveled *through* Marion Co - the Route didn't end here. A few stragglers may have "dropped off" and stayed - but most went on to Indian Territory (not necessarily what we know of as Oklahoma today 'cuz boundaries were different then).
