    3. Yes, this is a book. It's the writings of W R Jones in his newspaper The Mountain Echo. He extracted much of the information from this newspaper. The Historical Genealogical Society of Marion County has had these extractions printed and is offering the book for sale. And, yes, it has information on the Flippins. As I said in an earlier email to the ARMARION-L list: "W R Jones talked with the children and grandchildren of the really early settlers of MCAR, trying to learn as much as he could about the really early days of MCAR. He wrote about the Indians; the Old Military Road; the early ferries across White River; the pioneer families of Abram Wood, Obediah Wood, Hurst, Magness, Talbert, Williams, Jenkins, Tabor, Hudson, Flippin, Coker, etc. and the families they married into; and gives a good picture of the life and times and scenery and places in the really early years of MCAR. W R Jones came to MCAR in 1887, the year the courthouse burned to the ground. He recognized the need to put into print (in his newspaper, The Mountain Echo, actually) some of the information lost in that fire. It's an excellent source of primarily historical value with much genealogical information sprinkled generously throughout." The book "Gleanings of Pioneer History" by W R Jones is softbound, is not indexed, and sells for $5 including shipping. It can be ordered from the Society at HGSMCA PO Box 761 Yellville AR 72687 For information on other books for sale about Marion Co, go to http://www.rootsweb.com/~armarion which is the Marion Co web page. Scroll down to "Resources for Marion County AR." Click on "Marion Co Books For Sale." You'll find that a great many of them contain information on the Flippin family. If I can be of further help, please feel free to contact me.
