    2. Mysty, What time frame does this book cover? I am curious if there are any Pierce, Wolf, or Stafford (just a few of the lines I'm working on right now) family info mentioned. My step-dad (Pierce / Stafford) was born and raised in Flippin. Thanks for all the help you have given to this list. Susan

    3. W R Jones, author of the essays in "Gleanings of Pioneer History," arrived in Marion Co about the same time the courthouse burned to the ground in Aug 1887. Recognizing a need to salvage some of the history lost in this fire, and being very interested in the Indians that lived here before the white man came, Jones wrote many articles for his newspaper, The Mountain Echo. The time period he talks about covers roughly 1800 to ca 1880, mostly well before. For the most part this is a book about the history of the area, and, in telling the history, Jones notes information about some people and some families. These were the very early pioneer families - those that were here when MCAR became a state or shortly thereafter. The Wolf family might be mentioned, but I doubt the Pierce or Stafford families are. But, after all, what can you lose for $5? Hope this helps.
