Have some info for you, Peter, and am researching some of the other names you mentioned. It would be helpful if you could supply birth dates for all these people - and spouses, especially for the females. Smith is a very difficult name to work with - there are so many of them <sigh>. Not having an 1890 census doesn't help any either. "Cemeteries of Marion Co AR" by Lester & Marian Burnes. Smith Cemetery, Marion Co AR. Elijah Smith b 14 Feb 1874 d 2 Aug 1962. Mrs Betty Flippin b MO Oct 1876 is the daughter of Wesley W Smith, the niece of Wesley's brother Elijah Smith, and the wife of Tilden Flippin who she married MCAR 4 Aug 1894. According to the 1880 census for Buffalo Township, Morgan Co MO, Melvina Smith b 1877 and Andrew J Smith b 1880 are not the children of Wesley & Melvina Smith. Unfortunately the census doesn't state any relationship except "Other." Hope this helps.
