Dolores, you will find NO marriage records in Marion Co AR before Aug 1887. That's when the courthouse burned to the ground, taking every shred of records with it. Jesse Duncan Lay's first wife, Susannah Douglas, was born in TN 1808 and died in MCAR 1873 of tuberculosis. Their last child was born in 1854. Jesse married, second, Sarah A (Mullins) Loggains, widow of Major (his name, not his rank) Loggains, was born in AL in 1825. Jesse, aged 70, and Sarah, aged 55, are in Water Creek Township MCAR in 1880. There are no children listed with them, probably because of their ages at marriage (after 1873).
