Identifying the Betty Young that married Thomas Croucher Hudson could be a very difficult process, Patsy. I'm unable to do this, but maybe someone on this list can. Here's some information that might help narrow your search. First off, Arkansas did not become a state until 1836. In 1833 it was still Arkansas Territory. Second, Marion Co AR did not exist before 1836 so this marriage could not have occurred in this jurisdiction. It was probably in this geographic area, but there won't be any records because we didn't exist as a county. Third, the Marion Co AR courthouse was burned 3 or 4 times during the Civil War and burned completely to the ground Aug 1887 so any records that *might* have once existed here are gone - totally gone. Fourth, the parent county for Marion Co AR is Izard Co AR. If any records of the ca 1833 Hudson-Young marriage exist, they would most likely be in Izard Co. You might have some luck at the Izard Co web page. And be sure to check the writings of A. C. Jeffrey - they're really early. Fifth, Izard Co AR Territory was created from Independence Co AR Territory 27 Oct 1825. In turn, Independence Co AR Territory was created from Lawrence Co AR Territory which was created from Lawrence Co MO Territory 1819.
