    1. How to turn off html.
    2. Rhio
    3. It has become necessary to remind some that html (hyper text markup language) and rtf (rich text format) should be turned off before posting to Rootsweb mail lists. There are several reasons for this request. 1) Rootsweb archives all of our posts and they have a finite amount of space to do this. HTML takes up a lot of space. 2) Some people with older software cannot read HTML or RTF. The "turn off" instructions for several different mail programs are posted on the following page. http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/help/html-off.html Please select one from the 8 e-mail programs listed. If your's is not on the list, the instructions for one of the others might help you to turn off this function in your own e-mail program. Please do not cross post to different lists by including several mail list addressses on the "To" line or "CC" line. Another thing: Do not send attachments to the lists. Most will not get through and those that do are usually not readable. ROOTSWEB requests that listowners make this information available. Don't be offended if I post this message often. I have copied it and pasted it so that I can copy and post it often for newbies. Rhio listowner

    3. Yes, Turnbo is really difficult to read - and understand - sometimes. I've gone back over some of that stuff a dozen times trying to make heads or tails out of it. The head archivist with the MO State Archives, Lynn Morrow, co-authored a really interesting book, "White River Chronicles of S C Turnbo," that explains tons about the contents of the Turnbo manuscripts. Matter of fact, Lynn did the indexing for the manuscripts for the Internet. Glad you figured it out so quickly. Takes some of us forever <grin> Mysty shakerag@mtnhome.com ***************************************** ----- Original Message ----- From: Patricia Gausnell <gausnell@wmni.net> To: <ARMARION-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, February 01, 2001 11:56 PM Subject: MCCracken > Dear Mysty, > Regarding my mistake on Mary Elizabeth MCCRACKEN. I went back and read it again. Turnbo was quoting Billy Parker when he said, "My wife whose name in Elizabeth and who is a daughter of Elam McCracken..." This was written in a different paragraph than the beginning of the quotation, and I didn't realize he was still quoting Parker. Silly me! Will have to get that changed. Thanks. > Pat

    3. Have no record, Thelma, of any Lantz branch leaving the Ozark area for Nebraska. Just to totally confuse you on this family, the first Lantz I know of came from Hamburg, Germany, by 1780 and married in New Jersey. Somewhere between 1800 and 1808 they moved to Ohio. By 1826 one branch had gone to Missouri, and ended up in the Ozarks. By 1832 one branch had gone to Tennessee and ended up in the Ozarks. Where else they may have scattered to is anyone's guess <groan>. Sounds to me like the four winds would be as good a starting place as any <haha>.
