Joseph William Snipes b. ca May 1851 in TN. is listed with second wife in 1900 Census, Nueva Sylvestra "Vesta" Thompson. Appears he married her about 1892. His three oldest children John B., Margaret and Austin Snipes were obviously by a previous marriage. Anyone have an idea about who his first wife was and any data on her. Don Ott

This came across another list and thought it might give you a good chuckle or two..... ~gina~ YOU KNOW YOU'RE TAKING GENEALOGY TOO SERIOUSLY IF...... You are the only person to show up at the cemetery research party with a shovel. To put the "final touches" on your genealogical research, you've asked all of your closest relatives to provide DNA samples. You were instrumental in having "non-genealogical use of the genealogy room copy machine" classified as a federal hate crime. Your house leans slightly toward the side where your genealogical records are stored. You decided to take a two-week break from genealogy, and the U. S. Postal Office immediately laid off 1,500 employees. Out of respect for your best friend's unquestioned reputation for honesty and integrity, you are willing to turn off that noisy surveillance camera while she reviews your 57 genealogical research notebooks in your home. The armed security guard, however, will remain. During an ice storm and power outage, you ignore the pleas of your shivering spouse and place your last quilt around that 1886 photograph of dear Uncle George. Ed McMahon, several t.v. cameras and an envelope from Publishers Clearing House arrive at your front door on Super Bowl Sunday, amd the first thing you say is, "Are you related to the McMahons of Ohio?" "A Loving Family" and "Financial Security" have moved up to second and third, respectively, on your list of life's goals, but still lag far behind "Owning My Own Microfilm Reader." A magical genie appears and agrees to grant your any one wish, and you ask that the 1890 census be restored Visit my homepage at http://hometown.aol.com/ginaburningsky/myhomepage/business.html
Oops. My apologies list. I accidentally replied to an e-mail from Linda to the list (instead of her private address) and to top it off I now see it wasn't even intended for me, but Rhio. sorry, Carol
Linda, Thank you for alerting me to my mail bouncing. I have no idea why this is occuring. I receive other mail at this address, regularly. Unless, perhaps, it is bouncing due to a full mailbox. I've not received anything from Prodigy indicating that to be the case, however. Please check your records and make sure that I am registered for it to come to DESWINDS1@PRODIGY.NET which I assume it must be, since I received the below communique from you at this address. If need be, please change it so that it comes to ORCAROL@PRODIGY.NET . That should resolve the problem, if it is due to a full mailbox. I do receive a LOT of e-mail daily, as I subscribe to several lists that have high volume. Please advise if the problem continues. Thank you, Carol Hensley PS - I just have to ask "Are you the same Linda Davenport that used to run Norrel Temp. Services in Springfield, Oregon?" -----Original Message----- From: Linda Haas Davenport [mailto:lhaasdav@mindspring.com] Sent: Saturday, March 24, 2001 3:50 AM To: ARMARION-L@rootsweb.com Subject: To Rhio Hi Lady: Your e-mail has been bouncing for days I hope everything is Okay! Mysty: Thanks, I new I had the right URL and it really frustrated me. And I had sent the address out on the internet to someone else that wanted it. What would we do without you Mysty? I use that page so much and would be lost without it. Thanks again, Colleen
As of 11:30 am CST I found access to the http://www.glorecords.blm.gov site working just fine. The !@#$% hacker had only hacked the "genealogical" portion of this site (the search for land patents). No virus was involved. The basic sight was always OK. And now access to it is back to normal. No need now for further announcing, commentary, discussion, conjecture, concern, right? <whew> He/it was one ugly critter, wasn't he/it. Mysty shakerag@mtnhome.com
NEED INFO ON: Nancy Jane NEAL/McNEAL was born about 1858 at Dugginsville, MO; Ozark Co. She and her mother, Polly Ann NEAL was in the 1860 census of Ozark Co. Polly was 18 and Nancy was 2. Polly later married a HENDERSON, I believe she had a son named Jimmy HENDERSON and a dau Sarah md a RISLEY?? Polly and Jimmy may have lived with Sarah in one of the AR census', not sure which one, but it's 1900 or later. Nancy McNEAL md a Ambrose DONALDSON in Ozark Co MO, about 1887. They had 2 children Dan DONALDSON & Effie DONALDSON md 2 times to a HART and a FRIEND. She later married Elisha (EMC) SMOTHERS about 1900, can't find marriage record. Rhio Sorry, I must have had one of those "Senior Moments" http://resources.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/townco.cgi _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
This might be of help to you. It's from the first draft for "Genealogies of Marion Co Families 1811-1900, A Supplement" which has not yet been published. SOPHRONIA PARALEE PATTON (daughter of John Wiley & Mahulda Jane [Milum] Patton) b TN Jan 1856 m/1 Boone Co. AR 31 Aug 1877 W. H. SANSING b 1854; m/2 FRANK KINLEY b AR 1844. Children: Gussie Sansing b 1880 m Cora Wood; Sissie Sansing b 1880 m Roscoe Roberts; Sarah Paralee Kinley b 1888 d 1929 m John W. Hensley; Etta Mae "Eddie" Kinley b 1895 d 1979 m Wiley "Bid" Young. Keep in mind that records at LDS all carry the warning that the information may or may not be accurate and should be checked against all other records possible. They are designed as a method to point the way - not as fact in and of themselves. Because there is no 1890 census for the US (it was burned etc in a fire before it was ever copied), you'll need to look at the 1880 and the 1900, 1910, and 1920 census for Marion Co in order to ascertain the accuracy and the relationships of residents during that time period. The 1880 Marion Co census is online at http://www.rootsweb.com/~armarion under Transcribed Records. Unfortunately, no one has yet transcribed the Marion Co 1900, 1910 and 1920 census so you'll have to view those on microfilm <groan> However, it's my guess that you'll find more Hensley records in Boone Co AR. All the surnames mentioned above are Boone Co. families except, possibly, Hensley. You'll also need to check the 1900, 1910, and 1920 Boone Co AR census. And there are several families of that surname in Searcy Co. AR. Happy hunting. Mysty shakerag@mtnhome.com ************************************************* ----- Original Message ----- From: C.
