Hi folks! Some back I was asked for a source of records or information about Methodist clergy. At the time I replied that I was not acquainted with any. However, I just found the following message in my email archive which would seem to provide such a source. Caveat: I have not used this source and I cannot testify as to the currency of the address since the original message is several years old. Nevertheless, it might be worth a shot if you're seeking information about a Methodist clergyman. -- Robert W. King I'm an ingenieur, NOT a bloody locomotive driver! Good thing you zapped it, Darline. It was the W32Badtrans@MM virus that created such a mess a couple of weeks ago on the AFHA list. I'm sure you're aware of all that back-and-forth hoop-la that went on for several days <groan>. Do yourself a favor and run your virus scan just to be on the safe side. And go to your "delete" box and delete that particular email again. Then reboot your system. This will ensure that you won't be infected by this particular email - nor will anyone else. (It's a sneaky little !@#$%^&, believe me!) I've made it a practice since I was first infected around 4 years ago never, never, ever to open an attachment. If I think it may be important, I ask that the sender find an alternative method of sending it, telling them that I simply do *not* do attachments. Kathy Hudson, the AFHA list owner, has been doing everything possible to get this cunningham1234 to quit sending emails and to clean up their system. So far, apparently no luck. Guess some folks simply will not read or listen or understand or something <sigh> Kathy monitors the AFHA list very closely so she'll have gotten your warning message, by the way. You're entirely welcome, Robert. I, too, fell for all these warnings and passed them on for several months before I learned how to check out each and every one. I just make sure my anti-virus program is updated at least once a week, check out each "warning" when it arrives, try to notify folks of a URL where virus/hoaxes can be checked out, and keep my fingers crossed. Oh, and I *do not" open attachments - period. So far, that's the best I can come up with for my own protection. Seems to work pretty well - I'd say that only three infections in five years is a pretty good record since I get around 2-400 emails a week <smile> Mysty shakerag@mtnhome.com ************************************************* ----- Original Message ----- From: Robert Estes <bwoodshop@alltel.net> To: <ARMARION-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, May 03, 2001 1:02 PM Subject: VIRUS HOAX > Mysty has informed me that the virus warning that I posted is a hoax. > Actually by posting it and using the URL that Mysty sent, I found that I > could do the same with the anti virus program that I use, but was not > aware of it. Hi Delores, Brenda here from South Australia. This caught my instant attention with the Tany Co Missouri bit. My relatives are Whitson...Sam and Martha Ann Fletcher were married there and I can't find any info due to all the fires. It's my understanding that I have relatives in Oklahoma but don't know where...In hopes you may have some info. Hi Delores, I would like a look up at your convenience. My mom's side was from Lincoln Co, OK. The places mentioned were Wellston (mom's birthplace), Kendrick (her dad), Meeker, etc. The names I'm interested in are: Duble, sometimes Double, Sisson(s), and Mefford. Thanks for offering your kindness. Sincerely, Susan

If you mean the viewer to look at the census, yes I downloaded it it really helps a lot on the census stuff. Bren
No Robert you are not the only one. I didn't know that you could contact your virus protector company. But I intend to find out. Thanks again, Colleen PS: What would we do without Mysty?
I downloaded the new image viewer and can't see a thing. I sent them an email telling them about my problem hopefully others did to and they will get it fixed. Judy
So, yours worked, Bren? Did it make it clearer? I was hoping it would. Hi Judy, I downloaded it, too, but the image didn't come up in the little box as they said it would. So, I wasn't sure if it DID, in fact, download afterall. Then, when I tried to view images, I just kept getting a blank page, too. I emailed them and called, so I hope others do the same. It might be because this is so new, they're trying to get it all integrated into their software. Perhaps that's the reason for it not working. Anyone else having trouble with it, or have any "fixes" in getting the new image viewer to work? Thanks, Barb ----- Original Message ----- From: <Rlvjkv@aol.com> To: <ARMARION-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, May 03, 2001 1:37 PM Subject: Re: Ancestry.com > I downloaded the new image viewer and can't see a thing. Mysty has informed me that the virus warning that I posted is a hoax. Actually by posting it and using the URL that Mysty sent, I found that I could do the same with the anti virus program that I use, but was not aware of it. Wonder if I am the only dumb one out here, or if there are more people who are not aware of the ability to access there virus protection company and find out if a virus is real or a hoax. I am glad this one is a hoax. Thanks Mysty. Robert
Helpful suggestion. There are many virus hoax messages circulating all the time. When you get a message like the Family Picture one, take a moment a check one of these sites before passing along the message: www.virus.btn.com/Hoax/hoaxlist.html www.stiller.com/hoaxes.htm I like the Stiller site best because they have an alphabetical list of virus hoax messages. You may want to read what they have to say about the Family Pictures virus hoax. When we pass along the hoax, we play into the hands of the prankster.
