I've recently discovered these indredible sources of information while doing onsite genealogical research in MI and am hoping that similar atlases were printed in AR as well. I realize MCAR was (and is) more rural than the MI counties I am researching, but I'm hoping to find such an atlas. The oldest I've seen in MI is from 1860 - obviously I wouldn't expect one from that era down south. > > If anyone can post this for me on the MCAR email ring, I'd greatly appreciate it. I've submitted several queries to it but they never show up - maybe it has something to do with emailing them from yahoo...who knows. > > I'm also continuing (mostly in vain, it seems!) for my BLYETH, NEWTON, WOODS, WILLIAMS and allied ancestors from MCAR, in case anyone out ther is seeking or has info on these families. > > Thanks for any info! > > Craig Blyeth > San Francisco, CA

TX as a widow age 31 b. TN with daughters Matilda - age 10 b. ARK, Mary A. age 8 b. ARK and son George age 6 b. ARK. I can't seem to get a handle on her. She appears next door to several of my Brumbelow family members ~ I am wondering if she is one of the Brumbelow's unknown daughters (there are 2) who were born between 1826 - 1830 in TN. The family was in Carroll Co. ARK by 1837 - as was Allen Trimble, and were members of the Primitive Baptist Church there. I would be grateful for any help ~ I can't seem to find anything on the internet about Cynthia - such as who her husband may have been. As the eldest daughter was born in Arkansas in 1850, I am hoping the family is on the census somewhere there that I can find. ~gina~ NOVEMBER IS NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN HERITAGE MONTH please visit my website at www.burningskyenterprises.com family album - http://www.geocities.com/ginaburningsky4/burningskyent_genealogy.html

    3. Robert, this is a hoax. For more information about it, go to http://www.nai.com/asp_set/anti_virus/avert/intro.asp. Under "Latest Virus Info" in the left-hand column, click on "Hoaxes." In the box next to "contains" type something contained in the name of the hoax - in this case 'sulfnbk' will do fine. And there you are. It's apparently been around since April 2001 and was said to be going to ruin things 1 June 2001. Since it's now October 2001, it's obviously a hoax. For more detailed information on it, click on "virus characteristics" in the box way to the right. And, if you're still not sure about it, contact the AVERT folks and ask them. Suggest you put this site in your "favorites" or wherever you keep things you want to go back to. Even if your virus software isn't McAfee, it's a darned good, informative site, giving bunches of details. It's also darned good for real virus info. I find no reference to the Kellar surname in the MCAR 1880 census nor in "Marion Co AR 1890" by Helen McMindes (a reconstruction of the burned 1890 census). In "Marion Co Marriage Records 1887-1896" by Marian Burnes & Vicki Roberts, I find J W Dial aged 23 of Peel m MCAR 20 Aug 1896 Clara Kellar aged 22 of Stone. 3. Yes, the Mountain Echo has been officially sold. And it's not the first time in it's long history. Dale and Jane Estes, owners of the Flippin-based Mountaineer, have bought it. As many of you know, Estes is an old name in these parts. The family has been here since before 1850. So it's not as if someone "from off," with no roots nor ties to Marion Co, has jumped in to do their own thing. The first issue of the Mountaineer Echo went to press less than a week after the purchase - a few things got lost in the shuffle, I guess, like Frankie Seay's column. And the Yellville post office disallowed the Yellville bulk mail permit (Flippin post office was a bit more lenient) so your copy (like mine) may have been a day or two late. I doubt Jane and Dale got much sleep those first few days. Because the Estes' have merged the two operations, they have also merged the names. Thus the Mountaineer Echo. They have also merged several of the similar columns, retaining the familiar Mountain Echo title or the not-so-familiar Mountaineer title for these columns. Retained "as is" are columns such as Elda Powers' "This and That," Doretha Dillard's "Old Dillard Settlement," Frankie Seay's "Yakima Valley (WA) News," and others. As a matter of fact, Kerm Powers, Elda's husband, owned the Echo from 1963 to 1975 and sold it then to Rupert Phillips. Check "History of Marion Co" by Earl Berry for more info on the history of the Echo and it's various owners and editors. You'll find it at http://www.rootsweb.com/~armarion It's sad to have an old friend of 115 years lose part of it's identity, but the content won't change much more than the county itself will, and the familiar nickname "the Echo" will no doubt survive - again and again and again.
