Hi list, I want to find out when my grandfather (Bill Pierce) carried the mail in Flippin. He is listed (as a postmaster) in the "History of Marion Co" - but I want more proof than what's in the book. His son-in-law (Woodson Owen) was also a mail carrier. Who would have this kind of record? Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated - thanks in advance. Susan
I am very curious. I have a Mr. Williams...married to widow Mary Smith Roberts...they had a daughter Hanna Bertha born 1872?. Mary was a widow Roberts in 1870 and a widow Williams in 1880. They were probably in the Sing Sang Holler Road of Boone Co. - near Marion Co - up the road from Harrison Boone Co. We have searched and searched and have not been able to locate which Williams is the father. Does anyone know of a Mr. Williams that married Mary SMITH Robert (Polly) in 1871 or so, after the census in 1870. Hanna B Williams married a Joseph Dodson and went to Wilburton OK, where Joseph died. They had a son that died (Clyde or Claudie) probably before they left for OK. Pamela, in 1997 the Historic Genealogical Society of Marion Co AR (HGSMCA for short) published "Genealogies of Marion Co Families 1811-1900" (Big Blue for short). There are about 400 families covered and each is cross-referenced to spouse families (where known). Sources are included at the end of each family. Gina, "Big Blue" is the nickname given to "Genealogies of Marion County Families 1811-1900" published 1997 by the Historic Genealogical Society of Marion County Arkansas (better known as HGSMCA 'cuz the name is so long). This book is big (8.5x11, 650+ pages, 4.5 lbs) and is bound in blue. Email folks just got tired of typing such a long title and this nickname "took." Sokinne Smith, one male and one female 15-50, one female over 50 and one male under 10. He also had 4 negroes over 10 (slaves).

YOUNT, LOUISE PHILLIPS 97, resident of Sacramento for 66 years, died peacefully at home on Oct. 22, 2001. She taught for many years in Sacramento, starting her teaching career in 1935 at the Western School of Business. During WWII she managed the Sacramento branch office of a New York electrical manufacturing company providing equipment for the war effort. In the post-war years she was an industrial psychologist for Campbell Soup Co. In 1950 she received her teaching credential from Sacramento State College and was a Professor of Business Administration there until her retirement in 1968. After retirement she was an active member of the Sutter Hospital Auxiliary. She was born March 15, 1904 in Yellville, AR, the daughter of John Nelson Phillips and Ethel Covington Phillips and attended local schools and the University of Arkansas. She was a graduate of Draughon's Business College in Oklahoma City. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 22 years, Harry G. Yount who died in 1959. She is survived by her nephews, Russell Melton, Philip Nowlin & John Melton, and many grand nieces & nephews. Her long-time caregiver, Melenaite Latu, was at her bedside when she died. Friends are invited to attend a graveside service to be held at 11AM on Nov. 30, 2001 at East Lawn Memorial Park, Sacramento. **I have no connection to the family and have no further information.
