Don and Mysty, I don't have any MELTONs, to my knowledge, in the Marion Co AR area...but that doesn't mean there weren't any, if you know what I mean. :) I'm happy to share anything I have on the MELTON lines from Giles Co TN if you're both interested or think it might help in the Marion Co AR research. Don, Where is Cannon County, TN located? Giles Co TN is located on the central/southern border of TN/AL. It is adjacent to Lincoln Co TN, where other Meltons were living also at the time. Do you find or have any of your MELTON families with CRAIG/HOPE/CARTER families in Cannon Co TN ? Barb, Maybe you can help Mysty and me with the Meltons of Marion County., we seem to have lots of errors. Many were submitted and then we missed a few typos as well. Henry Frank Melton b. 6 Dec 1882 Marion Co., I have two deaths, 29 Nov 1960 and 29 Sep 1970. Anyone know for sure? Don
Thanks Mysty, in BB page 284, line 15, William Gilliam is listed as the child of John C. and Caroline (Mears) Gilliam. That does not match below? Jean, I do not know the parents of Drew Corbin. He is listed in the 1920 Okmulgee OK Census as Drew M. Corbin and I had always guessed, note only guessed that he was either the son or grandson of the Drew M. Corbin who was in Company F, 15th Texas Cav. on the Confederate side during the civil war. I have not looked up the details on either of these gentlemen. Drew M. Corbin b. 22 Dec 1895 in Indian Territory, Oklahoma. d. 15 Sep 1950 in Stanislaus Co. CA and was buried there. He married Lucy Elizabeth Kaler b. 16 Mar 1898 in Rush, Marion,Arkansas. d. 22 Aug 1970 Stanislaus Co. CA. both are buried in Empire. I only know of two children (might be still living) Alta Mae Corbin b. 24 May 1916 m J. B. Guinn. They had a daughter Patsy that has been married four or more times. A second daughter Effie L. Corbin b. 14 Nov 1919 who married Fred "Mutt" Alsup. I don't know if they had children. I am related to the Kalers and that is how I came to research this family. I will ask the other Marion County searchers, they might know more about him than I do. Let me know if you find something. Hi folks, My husband sent this on to me. All the employees at this school received it and I thought I would pass it along. Rhio listowner ============================= A new mass-mailing worm (VIRUS) hit the Internet on Sunday and is spreading rapidly. The new worm is known as Myparty.A and arrives as an e-mail with the subject line "New photos from my party!" The body of the message reads as follows: "Hello! My party...It was absolutely amazing! I have attached my web page with new photos! If you can please make color prints of my photos. Thanks." There is an attachment named www.myparty.yahoo.com, which does not point to any Web page and is instead a disguised executable file. Dolores, None of the names of Richardsons or those they married match anything I have on my Richardson of Searcy/Stone Co who married my Bradshaws of Marion/Boone So AR. And I don't believe any of my gggrandfather David's children went to MO. Judy
Dolores, I find this in "Genealogies of Marion Co Families 1811-1900" (pub 1997) on page 362. FRANKLIN BARRETT RICHARDSON b Madison Co. KY 2 Sep 1814 d Gasconade Co. MO 23 March 1897 m 1837 ELIZA ANN FERRIS b 18 March 1820 d Gasconade Co. MO 10 Aug 1910. Children of Franklin B. & Eliza Ann (Ferris) Richardson WILLIAM DUDLEY RICHARDSON Sr. b MO 7 Oct 1839 d Sedalia, Gasconade Co. MO 1877/8 m Gasconade Co. MO 27 April 1862 JOSEPHINE M. RICHARDSON (daughter of Richard & Charlotte [Cooper] Richardson) b MO ca 1844 d MCAR aft 1910 bu Nanny Cemetery. After William died in a horse-racing accident near Sedalia MO, Josephine moved the family to Lead Hill to be near her brother, Wiley Richardson. Moved ca 1890 to Sugar Orchard. In Sugar Loaf Township 1900, living with son William. In 1910, living with grandson Clarence. William's g-g-grandfather and Josephine's g-grandfather was AMOS RICHARDSON. Lead Hill was removed from Marion Co when Boone Co was created in 1869. Events such as births in the vicinity of the Marion-Boone Co line have been greatly confused for decades. Part of this confusion probably occurs because there is Sugar Loaf Township in MCAR as well as in Boone Co. There is no Richardson surname in the MCAR 1850 census. The only Richardson in the MCAR 1860 census is Green Richardson 18 b AR living in the Abner Cantrell household in Sugar Loaf Township. From the information above, I'd say the parents of John Wiley Richardson were Richard & Charlotte (Cooper) Richardson. I'd doubt John Wiley Richardson was born in MCAR because his older sister married in Gasconade Co MO at age 18 (Wiley would have been 14) and was doubtless living with her parents at that time. Hope this helps, Dolores. I've done a lot of research on the Dillard line in connection to the Smith family. I've been unable to find a husband's name. There are many indicators that she was related to the Setzer family, however, I have been unable to find concrete proof of this. Has anyone come up with a name for the husband of Mary Magdalene TATE, who came to Arkansas about 1860 and brought the Dillard family. Would also like to know if there has been a family connection made to the Setzer family that she lived with when coming here. Don Ott
JAMES Roy died mar 1910 and his wife Sarah Eurith De Jurnette Roy and infant son died 6 mo later in sept 1910. they were buried in marion Co. does anyone have any clue on what cem they are buried in ? Thanks.
"Cemeteries of Marion Co" by Lester & Marian Burnes lists only these Roys: Bull Shoals/Newton Flat Cemetery: Grace Z Roy 1913-1980 and Frank J Roy 1913. Looks as if these are husband and wife and that he was never buried there - or hasn't died yet. You might try the Marion Co web page at http://www.rootsweb.com/~armarion to see if there's an obit for him. There might be some genealogical data in it that would help. And you might look at the Removed Cemeteries under Cemeteries. Linda has posted the lists made by the Corps of Engineers when they moved all cemeteries that would be flooded when Bull Shoals Lake was created around 1952.
