The book "Cemeteries of Marion Co" by Marian Burnes lists most of the names and dates of those interred in most of the cemeteries in the county. The Historic Genealogical Society of Marion Co (HGSMCA for short) has this and many other books about Marion Co for sale. You can find a list of these publications on the Marion Co web page. Because this book is copyrighted, the contents of it may not be posted on the Internet. There are, however, good descriptions of the Marion Co cemeteries at http://www.rootsweb.com/~armarion. Scroll down to "Cemeteries" and click on "Physical location and description - - - - - ." Scroll down to Old Hurst/Teagarden - it's in the H's. You will find there an article by Don Ott about the rehabilitation of this cemetery. If you click on his name, you can email him direct. He's a Hall descendant and can probably tell you more about the Halls than you ever wanted to know <g> Hall is one of the 400 families covered in "Genealogies of Marion Co Families 1811-1900" pub 1997. There are no stories or pictures in this book - it's strictly genealogical data. It's indexed, cross-referenced to spouse families, lists sources for each family, and is probably the top-of-the-line research source for Marion Co. It's in that list of books the Society has available for researchers. I just completed the final list of the burial association cards I have in my possession. This includes individuals who died prior to October 1956. Reminder, this is not a complete list of those persons who died in Boone County, but those who had a burial policy (which amounted to $200 I believe) with the Boone County Burial Association and filed a claim. They may have passed and either not had a policy or the family not known they had a policy and the claim was never made. There is 33 pages. If anyone has the first 12 cards which came out from the association, from about January 1935; email me, I will be glad to add them to the list. At this time it goes from 1938 - 1956. There are many Yellville and people who moved from Boone County listed. I am working on Carroll County now and will have them up soon. You can view them on the following address: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jmwtlw/index.htm Happy Hunting: Reta DeShields Parton 1808 W Huntsville Springdale, Ar 72762 1-479-751-6947 [email protected] daughter of D W DeShields & Cora Irene Hamilton DeShields granddaughter of Dennie DeShields and Ruby Lee Austin DeShields gggranddaughter of John Wesley DeShields and Frankey Green DeShields ggggrandaughter of Handy DeShields and Nancy Womack DeShields

Hi Boone and Marion County researchers. I am excited to announce that the first phase of our web page is now up and ready for everyone to visit. At this time, we do not have any family trees out there. However, we have centered on documents. I and 2 other genealogists have been gathering since the 1970s and my daughter and I have decided to make the effort to make it available to researchers. No fees, it is free - as genealogy ought to be. Our main lines are: DeShields, Parton, Womack, Green, Austin, Brittian, Bly, with twenty or 30 more names added in. However, you will find things like: Alton Prison Journal by Capt Frost Index; Boone County Burial Association (gives members who died within a 90 day period 1938-1948), and much more. Come visit the sight and if you want to add something, let us know. Sign our guest book, we would like to know what you think. <A HREF="http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jmwtlw/index.htm">Rock Fence Genealogy - Main</A> or http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jmwtlw/index.htm Tonya Parton Williams & Reta DeShields Parton 1808 W Huntsville Springdale, Ar 72762 479-751-6947 [email protected] gggranddaughter of Handy DeShields and Nancy Womack DeShields ggrandaughter of John Wesley DeShields and Frankey Greene DeShields grandaughter of Dennie DeShields and Ruby Lee Austin DeShields daughter of D. There appear to be as many opinions as there are researchers on the Rea Family as to when John K. Rea came to Marion Arkansas. Some say all the children of John K. Rea and Martha Luticia Dudley were born in Arkansas, yet I find others who think they did not leave Illinois until late 40's. Any comments. Don Ott
Mike, Certainly there are a lot of folk who could help you in this area on this family. All of the folks here and before have spelled the name Treat. We have traced the name back to the 1500's and it was Trott with a few spelling it Tratt in England. John Trott b. about 1458 in Tauton Manor, Staplegrove, Somerset, England is the progenitor of this family. I have visited the area in England. You will find the entire family genealogy listed on the Marion Co. AR. web page. Although my reference file numbers for each family member is included, which makes it a little confusing, just ignore those. It is the John Trott line, (9 parts) Flippin Treat was married to Elizabeth Rose, you will fine the entire Rose genealogy there also. The e-mail address for me is quite out of date on that record, Century changed everything form Centuryinter to Centurytel some time ago. You may contact me at [email protected] should you have additional questions. I would be pleased to have what information you have on this family, as you can see my records after Flippin B. Treat and his family are limited. Judy, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of history about Jay Bird Cemetery. Probably because burials didn't begin until about 1913 and ended about 1971. The entire list of known burials includes a mere 16 individuals. I got all this from "Cemeteries of Marion Co" by Marian & Lester Burnes. If you'll let us know who it is you're looking for, that would be a great help.
