    1. RE: [ARFULTON] Townships of Fulton County
    2. Robert W. King
    3. Hi Judie! Try the URL http://www.skpub.com/genie/census/ar/fulton.html to see a map of Fulton County township boundaries. This is a single page on the web site at http://www.skpub.com/genie/index.html which provides County/township maps for the entire United States. This shows us that Union Township is in south central Fulton County. You will probably have to use the GNIS at http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnis/web_query.gnis_web_query_form to learn that Pleasant Ridge Church is located on Highway 9 about midway between Salem and Mammoth Springs and hence located some ten or fifteen miles north of Union Township. On the other hand, we have the Pleasant Ridge Townhip lying in the southeast corner of Fulton County and some ten miles east of Union Township. The GNIS site can provide all sorts of useful information. In addition to the Feature Location maps that I used to get a quick location of the different Pleasant Ridges, it has black and white aerial photos and USGS topographic maps. Both of these can show individual buildings in the vicinity of rural locations. The topo maps also have an additional feature. If you look at one, you will notice an overlay of red lines in a rectangular pattern. These are the surveyors section lines for that area. With a little effort (Try zooming out on the map), you can identify the section number, township number and range number and thus figure out exactly where some piece of land is from a deed description. -- Robert W. We are still chasing after Jim's Great Grandmother Sophronia Davenport Wiseman Montgomery. For the 1870 Census, I have written down four Wiseman households. John, Mary and Thomas are all on pg # 180 in Union Twp, while Sophronia is on pg #165 in Pleasant Ridge.. We know she was with the Wiley C. King family at that time. 3. 1930 Marion County Census, Flippin, lists Clyde R. Benbrook as a boarder in the Isaac Paul Rose's Hotel in Flippin. Can not seem to fit him into the Benbrook Family. He is listed as age 24 (1930 Census) born Arkansas. Also listed in the hotel is Clara Wolf age 27 born Arkansas., I believe she is probably the one that married Charles Bell Bird daughter of Lorenzo Dow Wolf and Ida Mae Cline. Ruby Reed is a boarder age 22, I think she probably is the one that married Robert "Doc" Pangle but I don't know who her parents are. Don Ott

    3. Sorely disappointed in the transcription of the 1930 Marion Co. AR Census by Ancestry. Absolutely the majority of the names are spelled incorrectly. If you go to the original document it appears to be somewhat more accurate. (Appears the transcriber read only Sanskrit) If you are looking for your family they are probably there but misspelled. As an example the Waggoner family name is spelled Yaggoner. Don

    3. Folks, this is a HOAX. Please read what www.hoaxbusters.ciac.org has to say about it. "The Jdbgmgr Hoax April 2002 The jdbgmgr hoax is almost the same as the sulfnbk hoax in that it tells you to delete a program that was installed with Windows. jdbmgr.exe is the Java Debugger Manager and does have an icon that looks like a Teddy Bear. It is not, normally, a virus. As with all executables, it is not impossible to have a copy of jdbmgr.exe that is infected by a virus but that virus will be detected by your antivirus software. Microsoft has posted the article Q322993 with information on how to replace jdbgmgr.exe if you have deleted it. Subject: IMPORTANT-VIRUS ALERT!!! Date: Thu, 18 Apr 2002 04:01:21 +0000 Hi everybody, I just wanted to let you know you should check your computers by following the procedure that's next....I don't remember getting an email with that file attachment, but I found it in my system. Since I found the dumb little bear in my computer, I'm sending you the info. The virus is called jdbgmgr.exe and it transfers automatically through Messenger and also through your address book and since I have all of you in my address book I have to send everyone this info. I'm sorry if this causes any problems. It certainly wasn't intentional. The virus isn't detected by McAfee or Norton and it remains in the folder for 14 days before activating and harming the system. It can be erased before it eliminates the files in your computer. To do so, follow these steps: 1.- Click on "Start" 2.- Go to find "files and folders" and write the name of jdbgmgr.exe 3.- Make sure it's looking in "C" drive. 4.- Click on "Find now" 5.- If the virus appears (the icon is a little bear that has the name of (jdbgmgr.exe) DO NOT OPEN IT FOR ANY REASON 6.- Right click on it and delete it (it will go to the recycle bin) 7.- Go to the recycle bin and either delete everything in the folder, or right click on the little bear and delete. If you find this virus in your computer, please send this message to all the people in your address book before it causes any damage." Please, please do not forward this erroneous warning to any one. If you have already done so, please email them with the facts about this hoax. All you accomplish by forwarding it to everyone you know is to clog cyberspace to the point where some ISPs are forced to shut down. And then some folks don't get any email at all. That could be you!!! 3. Tom, if you'll go to http://www.familysearch.org and click on the blurb on the left about the 1880 US census, you'll be taken to the 1880 census for the entire US created by LDS. Fill in the appropriate blanks (ie Sam Mann, Arkansas, 1874, all counties), you'll find Sam Mann as a son in the household of Elizabeth Mann, widow. Click on "household" and you'll view the entire family - including birth dates/ages, birth states, occupations, etc. They're in Marion Township, Bradley Co AR. I suggest you try the 1900 Bradley Co census for information on Sam, his mother, and his siblings. I also suggest you go to the Bradley Co AR web page to see if any information or volunteer there can be of assistance. Checking marriage records might help - his mom might very well have remarried between 1880 and 1900 - or - Sam himself might have married during that time period. Hope this is helpful. 3. Have no further information on these folks - such as places and marriage dates. Apparently they didn't marry in Marion Co. Possibly in Baxter Co, more likely in MO. No idea where they were born, either. Again, possibly MO. Go to www.familysearch.org and check the LDS country-wide 1880 census. Just enter Arkansas and the surname or Missouri and the surname for those born before 1880. It's a marvelous research tool <BG> Children of John Henry & Annie Elizabeth (Sanders) Nipps ZINNIE NIPPS. This couple and one of their sons died during the Spanish influenza epidemic in Marion Co. 1918 - this info is taken from the book - Early Days of Marion Co., Arkansas by Marian & Lester Burnes. 3. Think I've found the connection you're looking for, Roger. The following is from "Genealogies of Marion Co Families 1811-1900, A Supplement" which is still "under construction" and not yet published. Thanks Misty, I knew that you would find something or at least point us in the right direction. Roger

Single in North Fork Township 1880. Looks to me as if you're right - Mary Pilgrim is Mary Lorance, daughter of Peter & Sarah (Day) Lorance, wife of William Calvin Pilgrim. Also looks to me as if the brother of Lewis Day that married Rebecca ___ is most probably the John Day who is father of Jane Day, Rachel Day, Sarah Elizabeth Day, Mary Day, and a few more. Untangling this reminds me strongly why the Society's newsletter is called "Bramble Bush" <BG> Mysty [email protected] ----- Original Message ----- From: "Roger Lehman" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, November 14, 2002 11:21 AM Subject: Day and Pilgrim Families > I have been working with Donna Walker who is looking for information on > the Lewis Day family in Marion County. Does anyone on this list research the Pilgrim and or Day families? Has any one indexed Pioneer Life and Pioneer Families of the Ozarks?
