Hi Delores I have been researching my mother's family for quite some time and just last night came upon a WHITEKILLER and PARROT connection to her COCKRUM family. So, I was surprised to see your kind offer this morning and wonderful timing, it appears. My understanding is that the Whitekillers were from Ft. Gibson. By chance are they buried there at Citizen Cherokee National Cemetery? I show that Sallie Rider Whitekiller Cockrum was buried in Claremore - but, am not sure on that one either. Will look further for her this morning - as I believe some of the Rogers Co. cemeteries are online. At your convience and thanks so much for your time, Bernie Moore-Knowles Phoenix, Arizona - Papa'aola, Hawai'i "I have Indian blood in me. I have a site at MyFamily.com, http://www.myfamily.com/isapi.dll?c=Site&htx=Main&siteid=MZqFAM&lfl=LFLSi te titled "Cheek Family - Marion County AR & Forsyth Co, GA." It is understandable that the site deleloper can't continue indefinitely providing a free site so I sprung for the $9.95 per year to upgrade from 5mw to 100mg. It seems like a bargain to me. It costs that much per month to have a private site plus the initial setup costs and the purchase of a domain name. It appears to me that all the text information on the site could be copy and pasted. Photos could be obtained by email attachments from those who posted. I'm sorry, I know this may be offtopic (though it does relate directly to both genealogy and our research), but this came to me on another list, and I know it's probably old news, but what REALLY has me concerned here is the part at the bottom from the MyFamily.com website. Can anyone help explain this, please? I have information there and can't afford the price, does that mean my pictures and stuff I have posted there will belong to them? I have been given some family pictures which were in the Driver Family estate when it was settled (unsure of the first name - I believe it was settled after 1970). No one knew the pictures, so I still have the originals. I would like to correspond with any Driver Family Members concerning these pictures. I would like to put names on the pictures, place a digital copy in my files and send the original to the closest family member to that person in the picture. Hi Mysty: You may be interested in my latest tale, a novel based on my experiences during the Korean War. Following is the way I announced it by e-mail and snail mail. Hooray, my new baby is finally out. I named her Stay Safe, Buddy. She didn't come from my wife, or sexy mistress (Mistress? At my age, dream on John ). OK, I confess. She's not a little human. She's a novel and she came out of my head and heart. She is my firstborn (novel) though and I'm real proud of her. Consider yourself as having received a cigar or sweet chocolate. You can see my firstborn, Stay Safe Buddy, at www.publishamerica.com . Just type the title in the search area or my author name of J. Charles Cheek. She's also available for purchase at 1-877-333-7422. Subtitled A Story of Humor and Horror during the Korean War, the book is based on my personal experiences as a soldier. Most of the action takes place during the last seven months of the Korean War. Nearly all of the characters are based or real people I knew and many of the incidents actually occurred as described. Below is a short synopsis: Promised that he won't have to fight in combat, instead of being drafted for 2-years, 19-year old John Lefter enlists for a 3-year hitch in the Army Security Agency and ends up in the Korean War. At first, Lefter has a "candy ass" assignment 30 miles behind the fighting area. He spends a lot of time drinking beer, laughing and partying. Then he is forced to face his own mortality after being assigned bunker duty in the fighting area. He breaks down after his foul mouth buddy is hit with burp gun fire while saving Lefters life. In a hospital psychiatry ward, his recovery is aided dramatically by an innovative doctor and the only man he has ever hated. Back on the front line and atop the bunker celebrating just after the cease-fire, Lefter is again confronted with a shocking incident that takes him over fifty years to find closure. My ego needs to have a lot of folks look at my firstborn, so please pass this information on to anyone who may be interested. Order her at www.publishamerica.com or 1-877-333-7422. Thanks, John Cheek
