There is a road that turns off of hwy 65 at the North side of town. This area is by the Buffalo river. Melvin Jason Robertson and his wife Ada Lee O'Daniel lived in this area. Thanks for your reply. I just started on this branch of the family today.

Marshall is the county seat for Searcy Co AR. All marriage records are recorded there whether they occurred there or not. Woolum is a tiny town SSW of Marshall in Van Buren Co AR just across the southern border of Searcy Co just off Rt 254. It's nowhere near the Buffalo River which meanders along the northern border of Searcy Co. You should be able to find them in the 1900 and 1910 census living with their parents.

Pleasant Taylor homesteaded 160 acres in section 14 and 23 Township 19 North Range 16 West in Summit Township MCAR in 1890. This land is about 3-4 miles northeast of the city of Summit (which used to be called North Yellville). You can view the location under Maps of the County at http://www.rootsweb.com/~armarion. You can view the MCAR 1880 census at this same site. I find no record for a Pleasant Taylor in the 1860 census. Mysty [email protected]

Oh, yes, Bob. The sequel to "Genealogies of Marion County Families 1811-1900" is still cooking - in my computer and in four file boxes full of surname files on my floor. Trying to single-handedly keep track of around 350-400 new families as well as the 400 families previously covered as well as cross-reference pertinent information among all these families has a tendency to turn my brain to absolute mush now and then. You can always check out what's new for sale on the Marion Co web page http://www.rootsweb.com/~armarion under Resources for Researchers. Robert, the Lee family that includes Ezekial Luke Lee can be found on pages 492 and 493 of "Genealogies of Marion Co Families 1811-1900." Doris, I'm afraid I can't be of much help to you. The Marion Co courthouse was burned at least twice during the Civil War and again in Aug 1887. Not a shred of a county record survived any of these fires. Not a shred. Marriage records are kept on the county level, but we have non before 1887. Birth and death records weren't required in AR until Feb 1914. Legible tombstones in Marion Co cemeteries from the 1860s are either non-existent or totally illegible (most were just chunks of field stone anyway) so there are no "records" in our cemeteries. There is no mention of Reeme (any spelling) in the Silas Claiborne Turnbo manuscripts. There are a few mentions of Reeme (various spellings) on Ed Gerdes' Original Arkansas Civil War Page www.couchgenweb.com/arkansas but none with the given name John. I ran across these references to Reeme which might be helpful. Marion Co web page queries www.rootsweb.com/~armarion. LEE, REEME posted by Doris Davis on Sunday, June 1, 1997. Need information on death dates of Jane (LEE) REEME and husband John REEME. She died about County. Children were John M., Susan, Martha, Cecelia, Andrew, James, Thomas, Joseph and Fanny. Also need any information on a Marcus REEME in Izard/Marion Co. 1858 and he died about 1865 (shot on his front porch after Civil War). Both died in Marion. Marion Co AR Historical Society newsletter "Bramble Bush," April 1998 issue. REEME. Need info re children of JOHN REEME b PA ca 1812 d AR ca 1868 m/2 MARY ___ b MS 1827 d MCAR ca 1861 JOHN REEME Jr b MS 1835; MARTHA REEME b LA 1844; CEILA REEME b MS 1845; JAMES REEME b AR 1849; THOMAS REEME b AR 1851; JOSEPH REEME b AR 1855; FANNY REEME b AR 1858. Younger children farmed out when mother died and after father was killed. A study of the Marion Co 1860 census indicates to me that son John b MS 1835 is the son of John & Jane (Lee) Reeme; that daughter Susan (no date) is also their child. There is then a gap of several years (indicating that Jane has died or a bunch of kids died at birth) before daughter Martha is b in LA 1844, making me think she is not the daughter of John & Jane, but is the daughter of John & Mary. This, in turn, indicates to me the probability that John & Mary were married in Louisiana - just across the border from MS. The same possibility still remains if, as you say, Martha was b in TX. It, too, is just across the border from MS. Finding the location of the marriage record for John & Mary would provide her surname. You might search thru the Lee Forum at www.genforum.genealogy.com. To narrow the search, enter AR or LA or TX or Reeme or whatever in the box at the head of the column. Sorry I couldn't answer any of your questions for you. The resources just plain don't exist here. Mysty [email protected] ----- Original Message ----- From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Sent: Friday, July 11, 2003 3:17 PM Subject: Look-up Marion Co AR I am trying to determine maiden name of my ancestor John Reeme's second wife, Mary. John's first wife, Jane Lee, died between the 1850(Jackson Co AR census and the 1860 Marion Co AR census. The 1860 Marion Co AR census, Buffalo For Township (page 635?) shows: John Reeme age 48 carpenter born PA Mary age 33 born MS (2nd wife) John age 24 born MS (son) Martha age 16 born LA (actually born TX) Celia age 15 born MS James age 11 born AR Thos age 9 born AR Joseph age 6 born AR Fanny age 2 born AR Both John Reeme and Mary died sometime after Civil War and the younger children were split up. Do you have anything on this famly which may give Mary Reeme's maiden name? Some researchers have erroneously said she was MaryMcFadden, but that is another lady married to another John Reeme who lived and died in PA - not my John Reeme. One researcher for the Lee family (first wife Jane Lee) says that Mary was a sister to Jane. I'm not sure if there are marriage records still intact for this period in AR or not. I have attempted to look but found nothing. I would appreciate any help and, of course reimburse for any copies. Thank you. Doris Davis
