I have just joined this list.  I am trying to help a friend find her grandfather, George Thomas Burnett, who was born in Tennessee about 1890, but who had some connection to Arkansas.  In 1900 George and his sister Josie were orphaned and living with his grandmother, Nancy Grimes (her real name may have been Sarah?) in Rutherford County, TN.  Nancy had a daughter, Ida Clark, with her in addition to the two children. In 1850 G(rief?) G. C. Grimes was living in Cannon County, TN.  By 1860 he was in Madison County, AR with his wife Sarah and children, where the family remained in 1870 and in 1880.  He was married to Sarah J/I Smith in Cannon County, TN. Does anyone on this list have information on this family?  Is it possible that Nancy Grimes of Rutherford County, TN was the same as Sarah Smith Grimes of Madison County, AR? Any help very much appreciated--will be happy to do look-ups for you in Bedford County, TN published records. Carolyn Smotherman
