I lived in Tulsa until age 12. When I was 7, my family went to a week-end party at the Illinois river cabin of E. L. Mendenhall, a building contractor in Tulsa, for whom both my Mom and step-father worked. Several of us left our poles out overnight and I was the only one to catch anything, a 14 pound channel cat. It was so big I had to have help in pulling it out. Somewhere I think I have a picture. I'll have to look for it. there is a small place that runs into Illinois river called " BARon Fork Creek" the water comes out of the mountain springs and is ice cold in July we used to fish there and watch them take our bait.
