    3. Hello Friends, I read the Madison County Digest regularly and see many surnames I recognize although they are not part of my family. I sat down at the computer this evening to work on my own family, but here I am seeing some of those surnames you are searching in the papers I am reading. Eddie, I don’t know if this will connect to your VAUGHNs , but you might be interested in reading Elsie VAUGHN’s contribution to “Madison Musings II”. She discusses her family history with many interesting stories. Elsie told the interviewer that William Vaughn was born in Wales in 1750. He came from NC with his sons. Samuel and Daniel, and were among the early settlers in Washington County before coming to the Vaughn Valley near Hindsville. John HIND from Warren County, TN arrived in 1832 and settled where Hindsville is now located. His brother William settled 2 1/2 miles southwest of Hindsville. Elsie and her husband, Otis, both descended from Daniel Vaughn. There are many names in her account. Madison County Genealogical Society might have Elsie’s research files by now. The past two years I visited with Elsie in a convalescent home. I believe her nephew was attempting to have Elsie’s research organized. HINDS, “Madison County Musings III” has an interview with Willie CALICO Bohannan in which Wiilie tells how the mother of Lydia Ann Smith was the first person buried in Hindsville Cemetery. Lydia’s mother was a sister of John HINDS. Mark and the other PHILLIPS researchers My ggrandfather’s (Joshua Thomas ELLIS) first wife was Mary Palestine PHILLIPS. Pearl Herndon Crews worked with Eddene Thompson of Broken Arrow, OK and Ruby Johnson Wiedeman(sp ?). She also had found some information in “The Madison County Genealogist” published before “Madison Musing”. RubyJohnson Wiedeman submitted her work to the LDS Library in Salt Lake City. I saw her family history in Salt Lake. I hope this is helpful to some of you. None of these folks are directly related to me, but I am so grateful for the contribution Pearl made to my research, and I want her work to be useful to others researching her line. This is much longer than I like to send to a list of digest, however I am scheduling some minor surgery and not sure when I will have time to contribute to other folks work. Good Luck to All of you.
