    3. The e-mail address you provided below has fatal errors and is not a good address. Email: Eagle@hhs.nwsc.k12.ar.us This should get you to the Administration Office. -----Original Message----- From: armadiso-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:armadiso-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of PJ Rogers Sent: Wednesday, November 28, 2007 10:48 AM To: armadiso-l@rootsweb.com Subject: [ARMADISO] Saving Old Main Building - Huntsville High School The following info is from emails received this week re: saving Old Main. I have uploaded a photo of the old building (HSVS) here: http://www.rootsweb.com/~armadiso/huntsvillehighschool.jpg - - - - - - - - - You all take note and mail or call in your vote to save this lovely bit of our heritage. There is a ballot in last week's paper to send to the school office. If you don't have the ballot just call them and voice your opinion on saving the Old HSVS school and not turning it to a pile of rubble or sold to someone in another state. A lot of our grandfathers hand hewed those old stones so help keep this building from such a sad ending. VOTE and sign our petition for it to remain. PS Send this to others that went to school there and let's get it going NOW as we don't have a lot of time to beat them to the punch !!!!!!!! - - - - There is a large group of people working to save the building. Meeting this Friday evening , Nov. 30 at 6PM at the High School Cafeteria. Be sure to be there to get your votes in !!. Watch the MC Record as it will have some on it in there. We don't have much time and we need a force of interested and concerned people behind this Organization to Save Ole Main ! Email the Admin. office as to your vote , the address is below. Or /and call them and state your feelings about the destruction of this grand old building !! Email: Eagle@hhs.nwsc.k12.ar.us This should get you to the Administration Office. - - - - Following is the article as it appeared in last week's paper (Madison County Record): District reaches a final four of facility plans The Huntsville School District had yet another meeting with the public, this time discussing a series of options that the district plans to present to the Arkansas Department of Education next month. Following its failed proposed mileage increase in Sept, the district was asked to present its plans for meeting its facilities needs. The meeting is scheduled in Little Rock on Dec. 13. The district has narrowed down its options to four. The ad can be found in The Record (and I think on line at the above address) for two weeks. and the public is asked to check which option it prefers along with which voting precinct they're from. Students will be sent home next Monday, yesterday, the same survey. Option A is for the district to build a new 8th and 9th grade junior high school at its property on Highway 412 Business East. It's the property that was originally planned to be the home of a new high school. (the millage increase to build this has been voted down twice!!!!) Option B would add eight classrooms at the Huntsville High School, the tearing down of Old Main at the Middle School and moving the 6th grade from the Intermediate School to the Middle School. The state would also pay 58 percent of that total cost. (Old Main) is a problem that is going to have to be dealt with somehow," Superintendent Lievsay said. "To get it restored would be a very expensive undertaking, and you end up with an old building. But, I also understand the importance of the building." Option C would also add eight classrooms to the high school, eight classrooms to the Intermediate School, and new portable buildings at the Middle School. Again, the state would pay for 58 percent of the cost. Option D is the only one not requiring a vote from the public. It would add from 8 to 10 portable buildings at HHS, Middle School, and Intermediate campuses. The state would not assist in this cost. - - - - - - - - - - - My Note: At present the high school is 9-12 at the building on Hwy 23 South. The Intermediate school is 7 and 8 on the hill. And all the lower grades down where the football field is. I know the ballot is only for local voters, but we really need to find a way to save Old Main. Talk will not do it. I understand the need for more classrooms and do not understand why the millage vote did not pass (you know Madison County). Any rich alumni out there willing to pitch in????
