Dear List: Today Madison County, Arkansas was absolutely as beautiful as a place could possibly be on a perfect spring morning, the sun shining down warmly and the air so pure it just smelled like sweetness itself. The redbud trees were fully bloomed, the forsythia blazing, japonica and spirea completed the trio. Daffodils were everywhere, especially along the road where old home sites once stood. I was there today at about 10:00 a.m., driving from Eureka Springs through Boxley Valley down to Clarksville and I-40. After that incredibly beautiful ninety-mile drive, I-40 was hard to take on the trip back to Memphis.
