Hello Joy, I have been following your Witter Cemetery postings and wonder if you could tell me if you have my grandfather Jerry Mar Herriman on the cemetery list or any Witter information showing my Herrimans or Pace families? My mother, Clara Herriman, was born in Witter in 1916. Would appreciate anything you might have. Thanks for your time and all your postings. Thanks Joy, that answers my question. I wasn't sure if "WITTER Cemetery" meant the one in the town of WITTER or the small homestead burial cemetery. Regarding Elias Witter and the Witter Cemetery property. The property that the Witter Cemetery is located on was deeded for school and church purposes in 1872 by Simon Peter Smith and his brother, Capt. George Washington Russell Smith. The school and church was known for a long time as "Smith Chapel" and the school was originally called "Bolinger School". Capt. G. W. R. Smith's wife was a Bolinger. I have not seen any land ownership in the Witter area for Elias Witter. His land was owned up Baldwin Creek near St. Paul. As I understand it, he only ran a store at Witter. Joy Russell

Try looking in cemetery enumerations in Arkansas. Sometimes small cemeteries are listed. The library in Fayetteville, Arkansas has a huge amount of information on micro.
