Searching for information related to William Alderson, his 1st wife Malinda (Kelly) and their children (David born about 1866 & Cynthia born about 1870). They are listed beginning on page 416, family 120, beginning on line 24. The handwriting and spelling on the census are terrible making the surname difficult to read, but the ages and given names match the Alderson Families. The previous family was Sam & Ellizabeth Alderson. A third adult in the home of William Alderson was Malinda Kelly age 60. Willie Bohannan's account of the Kelly Family indicates Malinda Kelly, daughter of Hiram & Malinda Kelly, married William Alderson. The index to Chancery Court Records , Books B, C, D & E for Madison County show: Malinda Alderson and Wm. H. Alderson, Divorce, Book B, pages 13 & 16 Samuel Alderson and Elizabeth Alderson, Divorce, Book B, page 2 and Book C, pages 54 and 100. Apparently William & Samuel remarried, however Malinda Kelly/Alderson and her children have been difficult to locate. Malinda's sisters. Elmina and Joseph Brown and "Louiza"married Joaeph's nephew, David Brown, 29 Sep 1863 shortly before Joseph and David reported for military service. David & Louiza Brown moved on to Franklin & Sebastian Counties in AR. They are buried at Alma. Joseph & Elmina moved to Bell County TX and are now buried in a cemetery just south of Belton, TX. The divorce record is the last information found on Malinda. The only information on her children and the last record of Malinda Sr. is the 1870 census. My research on my grandfather has taken a new turn into Madison County. This is unexplored territory for me. My grandfather, Jesse Albert Provard, after his divorce from my grandmother, married Margaret Vaughan (b. 1908), of the Clifty area in Madison County. They settled in and lived many years in the Los Angeles, California area. Jesse Provard died there in 1969. What ever became of Margaret (or Marge, as we knew her) is one of the great family mysteries. I have a copy of an obituary of Beulah Vaughan, Marge's mother, dated 26 Feb 1970 and published in the Northwest Arkansas Times, that shows her as a survivor. Don is also related to Marcus L. Kelly is the M. L. Kelly, who made many of the gravestones we find in northwest AR cemeteries. Marcus was the son of Dr. Jesse R. Kelly, minister and doctor, who is buried in the Goshen Cemetery. Hiram Kelly filed patents for acerate Hiram Kelly and his son Joseph are buried in Austin Cemetery. The late, Willie Calico Bohannan, gg-grandaughter of Hiram & Elizabeth (McGee) Kelly, included an account of the Kelly family and the murder of her g grandfather Joseph KELLY in the series of articles published in the 1885 issues of Madison Musings, the quarterly publication of the Madison County Genealogical and Historical Soceity. Willie Doris Calico Bohannan’s account of the death of Joseph Kelly: "The 31st day of March 1863 had been a lovely one, but the last that Joseph Kelly would be privileged to spend with his devoted wife... It was a little after dark, and the family had just finished their supper when someone hollered “Hello” at the yard gate, only a few feet from the front of the house. Joseph expecting it to be a neighbor in need of help, stepped to the door to know who was calling... There was a single blast from a gun and Joseph lay dying ans struggling in his own blood." (page 160 -161, Madison County Musings, Vol IV Winter 1985 No 4.) The "Madison Musings" article includes a map identifying the locations of the family lands. The late Floy Crumley lived on a portion of the Hiram Kelly land on War Eagle. His grandson, Hiram Kelly Ellis purchased land at the intersection of 412 & 23 north toward Eureka Springs (relatives still live in that area). There is also information related to the Kelly Family in two issues of the Goodspeed Northwest Arkansas publications. Willie Calico Bohannan passed away last May, leaving a legacy rich with historical and family information. We all miss her. Dear fellow listers, First, I must apologize for being negligent in the obit postings I make. I copy only part of the information to post here, and in so doing, I do not realize that some of the names may have only a death notice or funeral notice. Sometimes an obit will appear at a later date, but sometimes, this is not the case. I just didi'nt intend to get your hopes up, and then be disappointed that a notice is all I have. I try so hard to get these posted and out in a timely manner, and because of other things I have to do, I don't take as much time as maybe I should, making sure all I post are names with actual obits and denote if otherwise. I will take the time to do this in the future, and denote by the names of those with only death notices or funeral notices. I am so sorry! Please accept my apology for this oversight.
