Wilma Joy Russell of Huntsville very likely has hundreds of cemetery pictures as she has been involved in putting together the Madison County cemetery books. Olan Watkins
Yes, I am familiar with Joy. She is an angel for Madison Co. researchers. I have the new Index of all the cemeteries in Madison Co that she compiled and that the Madison County Genealogical & Historical Society just published in August this year, However, I do not have some of the cemetery books, so that is why I was asking about locations. To tell the truth, I half expected Joy to be the first to answer, as she is always on top of things! Thanks, guys! Joseph, There is no Levi or Nancy Dutton listed in the Master Index for Tombstones in all Madison Couny Arkansas Cemeteries This book was compiled in 2007 by Joy Russell, and published by the Madison County Genealogical & Historical Society in August 2007. It only contains the burials that have been published in the cemetery books, and does not include recent burials. As I understand it, cemetery books are compiled with only those burials in cemeteries that have tombstones at the time the cemeteries are recorded by volunteers. I also checked Benton Co burials and checked my Obituary CD's for both Washington & Benton Co., as there are Duttons in both counties, to see if a mention might be made. There were none. Option C would also add eight classrooms to the high school, eight classrooms to the Intermediate School, and new portable buildings at the Middle School. Again, the state would pay for 58 percent of the cost. Option D is the only one not requiring a vote from the public. It would add from 8 to 10 portable buildings at HHS, Middle School, and Intermediate campuses. The state would not assist in this cost. - - - - - - - - - - - My Note: At present the high school is 9-12 at the building on Hwy 23 South. The Intermediate school is 7 and 8 on the hill. And all the lower grades down where the football field is. I know the ballot is only for local voters, but we really need to find a way to save Old Main. Talk will not do it. I understand the need for more classrooms and do not understand why the millage vote did not pass (you know Madison County). Any rich alumni out there willing to pitch in???? It is and always will be a free and open site...i own and operate the site and pay for storage space. Hope this helps. I added the Snow Cemetery in Lawrence county a few days ago...I am most grateful to you and others like you who are so willing to help and i apprecite your contributions in the future...hope this helps to answer your questions. This site was opened 2 days ago and look at it now..this tells me that there is a need for State Tombstone projects ...some say no...but i say yes. I noticed Carroll Co. is not listed in AR. I have most of the tombstones from the Snow Cemetery in Carroll Co. What is maximum file size that can be submitted for each photo? Greetings Arkansas Researchers, I wouldlike to invite you to check out the Arkansas Gravestone Photo Project and participate in its growth as it will only grow with everyone's involvement. The www.Arkansasgravestones.org i s a wonderful tool to preserve the headstones of your ancestors. With the advent of time and weather and vandalism, our headstones are disappearing at an alarming rate. We need to work on preserving a digital image of our family stones as a fitting tribute to our ancestors. This site is an easy-to-use site that exists to make this preservation possible. Additionally there is no cost to the contributor or to anyone wanting to view the photos, hard to find in this day and age where everything costs something. Plus this is a great way to have a backup for all those photos you presently have. There are no annoying ads flashing, moving or popping. Particularly valuable are those very old headstone photos that you have in grandma's photo album. Scan them into your computer and add them to the site as they may be the only testament to your ancestors life. Share them with the world. This is link for the Arkansasgravestones.org GPP Arkansasgravestones.org has just come on line. We are presently working to get it setup and we would invite you to check it out. Also, I am asking for your help, please add your photos to the site. Every county will have space. I am your Arkansas State coordinator and I am truly excited about being involved. If you need help in adding your pictures i will be glad to help....another great way to save a grave. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at tootied@suddenlink.net to respond to this message. Many of you know me for my SHARP research. Any one interested in hosting any of the counties i would like to hear from you. For you information there are 11 more states with the gravestones.org sites and more are being added. Thank you very much! Tootie Dennis aka Ira Sharp Dennis tootied@suddenlink.net The following states are currently using a version of the Gravestone Photo Project software: www.arizoniagravestones.org www.arkansasgravestones www.coloradogravestones www.illinoisgravestones www.iowagravestones www.marylandgravestones www.mainegravestones www.nebraskagravestones www.newgrunswickgravestones (Canada) www.newmexicogravestones www.newyorkgravestones www.ohiogravestones www.oregongravestones www.pennsylvaniagravestones www.virginiagravestones www.utahgravestones
The master index lists: Francis Bell Deaton Isaac M. Deaton, Sr. Both in Patrick Cemetery. Since they are listed in the master index, that means that they do have a tombstone with their name on it. Joy Russell ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
