    1. [ARMADISO-L] Elisabeth Wolf Johnson Reeves
    2. Julie A.
    3. Elisabeth's real first name was Maud but I've yet to see it listed on any census or document. She was born December 26, 1849 ( although the census would put her at 1854). Her first marriage to G. Johnson produced the following children: Mary, 1870 Robert Franklin, 1872 She was married to James Morgan Reeves son of Barrester Jurdon Reeves and Sarah Cantrell. They married February 22, 1876 and had the following children: John V, Jan 20, 1877 Bell (Betheny) Feb. 21, 1879 Arlena, June 20. 1882 Sarah, Oct. 7, 1885 Maud Elizabeth, Jan 6, 1888 I have not been able to find a cemetery which lists her. She died in 1888, and in the 1880 census she is listed as living in Wharton Creek Township, Madison Co. AR. When she died James M Reeves went to Texas and stayed with his mom, leaving all these children with someone unknown in Arkansas. He later remarried and sent for them, but it is a mystery as to whom they were left with for this duration. Mary Johnson (daughter of Elisabeth) married James Morgan Reeves' first cousin- Dru Reeves (son of Morgan G. Reeves). They married in 1884 so it is possible that they all went to live with them but since there is no 1890 census I can't be sure. Confused? Me too! If these names are familiar to you, please contact me. Thank you, Julie

    1. [ARMADISO-L] Garland Johnson 1830-1873
    2. Julie A.
    3. Hello all, I've been on all the surname lists with no luck, so now it's time to try to zero in on locations. I am looking for Garland Henry Johnson born 1830 died 1873. He was married to Mary __ in 1851, Margaret__ in 1868 and (Maud) Elisabeth Wolf in 1869. Children: With Mary: J.A. Oct. 5, 1853 Nancy E. Oct. 3, 1855 William M, July 7, 1858 John W, Nov. 6, 1860 James, Aug. 19, 1865 With wife (Maud) Elisabeth: Mary, Oct. 29, 1870 Robert Franklin, Sept. 26, 1872 Garland was reported to have been a circuit preacher. I have found his widow and her 2 children on the 1880 census with her 2nd husband. There is no mention of the children from his first marriage. I wonder where they were. Does anyone have the 1870 census listing Garland or Henry Johnson with these children? Does anyone recognize these names at all? The older children must have gone to live with someone other than their father, perhaps their mothers relatives? Thanks for your help, Julie

    3. Holley, Thanks for the info, I too, would like to know what you find out. I don't know the parents of James Miller, nor, Annie Campbell, but I'm sure it is bound to come together sometime. I have several Campbell's and Miller's in my database, but alas, no connection at this time for either. So many connections in Arkansas, that it is hard to reconstuct everything. My connections are mostly Eubanks, and I thank you for the address of your friend. February 4, 2000 For Immediate Release Contact: Tracey Converse [email protected] 501-835-7502 ARKANSAS' LARGEST FAMILY HISTORY ORGANIZATION OFFERS GENEALOGY CLASSES Little Rock-The Arkansas Family History Association recently announced a lecture series featuring national and regional speakers on how to trace your family tree. According to April 1999 issue of Time Magazine, family history research is one of the leading subject on the Internet. With the advent of the Internet, AFHA founder Desmond Walls Allen says, "Reconnecting distant family relations is now easier than before. Many folks find when they get on mailing lists that they have a distant cousin also researching the family." "Our website alone had 20,000 hits last month. Our staff of nationwide volunteers have done over 200 genealogy lookups in the last month." Designed to offer free membership and online lookups to people with Internet access, AFHA has grown to the largest genealogical organization in the state with over 1000 members worldwide. During just the first three weeks of this year, the AFHA Internet Mailing list saw over 700 messages posted about Arkansas history. "The phenomenal growth shows an incredible interest of the people of Arkansas to learn about their families past," said Allen. Education is a major goal of this organization. With monthly meetings held at the Central Arkansas Library's Main Branch, AFHA hopes to educate more people in the fine art of research. Tickets to the classes are $12 in advance and $10 for members. The class runs from 2-5 pm at the Main Library in Little Rock at 100 Rock Street. Monies raised will be used to support the Richard C. Butler Center for Arkansas Studies at the Central Arkansas Library. The February 20 meeting will feature regional lecturer Tracey Converse. Her topic will be "Surfing the Web for Cousins." She will provide insight into how to find your family information on the web. What search engines to use and how to share your information with others. Converse is also the web master for the Central Arkansas Library System and has been on the web for 5 years and researching her family history since 1983. Additional classes are slated for March 17, April 15, May 14, June 11 and July 30. Topics will include Newspaper Research, Beginning Genealogy, Civil War Records, and Native American Research. AR about 1910.  An exact date is not required to order a death certificate; they will search a several year range for you. Especially Arkansas is so cheap (only $4 for a death certificate/search), I would just try ordering one. Send the info you have, and see if they can find something for you. For Arkansas vital records info see: http://health.state.ar.us/htm/vr_faq.htm Regards, dave

A Death Index book is about to be published that will go to 1948 but it will be awhile before anything later is done. 1. [ARMADISO-L] Vaughan and Edwards families
    2. astringf
    3. I just joined the list and I wanted to put out feelers for anyone who might be familiar with the Vaughan family of Madison County, and possibly this might be where my Edwards are too. I just very recently found some information that indicates they are my ancestors. A woman named Susannah Vaughan married a Joseph Edwards (before the Civil War time) and that is where my mother's Edwards line picks up. Susannah and Joseph had several children, one of which being my great-great grandfather Thomas Jefferson Edwards. From what little bit I've found about the Vaughan family, it appears that Susannah's family may have had a couple of generations in the Madison County area. It seems one of her ancestors (I want to say Samuel--who may have been her father) was a Baptist minister. I think there was possibly another minister in the family as well. Susannah and Joseph ultimately moved to the Waco, Texas area and that was the area their son Thomas J. grew up. Regarding Joseph Edwards, I only have his name as Susannah's husband and that he was supposed to have been born in Kentucky. I would love any information on him or the Vaughans, if this sounds familiar to anyone. Thanx. Andie Stringfellow [email protected]
