    1. [ARMADISO-L] Re: Mary Jane Harison
    2. Hi, thanks for the reply to my query about Kimbal Alonzo Moses and his wife, Mary Jane Harrison. Her parents, I have been told but have not been able to verify, were Alexander Harrison and Abigail Chaney, from Ohio. I do not have a date of birth for Mary Jane. Alexander and Abigail married in Seneca, Ohio, in 1846. We do not know if she had siblings. That is all I know of them, except that Kimbal moved his family to Drake's Creek from Kansas after they left Ohio sometime after the Civil War.

Raye, Jack Drake has placed photos of all the tombstones at the Drakes Creek Cemetery online at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jdrake71053/arcemetery_drakescreek-1. html I don't see any Moses' there, but you might want to take a look anyway and see if there are any other names you're interested in. I have always wondered where my great-great-grandfather, Kimbal Alonzo Moses and his wife Mary Jane Harrison were buried. They moved to at Drake's Creek in the 1880's, possibly earlier. Family stories tell he traded his farm in Kansas for a farm in Drake's Creek sight-unseen. My grandmother. Alma Adele Moses (even though she was the daughter of Lettie, daughter of Kimbal Alonzo and Mary Jane, she used the Moses surname her whole life, we never exactly knew who her father was) adored her grandfather Alonzo and grandmother Mary Jane and told stories about them, but I was so small, I didn't pay enough attention and now she is gone, too. So, that is why the exhange between Peggy and Mary interested me, since Mary referred to Drake's Creek. Can someone help me with this? Kimball Alonzo died in 1918 and I do not have a date of death for Mary Jane. Thanks for your time and Good Luck Hunting! Raye Blackman >>

Please note it has been corrected now, after about 3 months of being wrong. Thanks to all who replied to my queries, by the way. Eddie Davis [email protected]

    3. Mullins Library on the campus of the University of Arkansas also has microfilm of all available Madison County newspapers (as well as many, many other newspapers in Arkansas.) It looks like they have scattered issues of Madison County newspapers back to 1880 and some of the titles include: Madison County Record, Madison County Democrat, The Huntsville Republican, St. Paul Republican, The Mountain Air, etc. To view the listing of available issues, point your web browser to: http://library.uark.edu/search/f then type "Madison County Record" in the search box (without the quotation marks). Then click on each entry to view the list of available issues. Also, when you locate the call number for the microfilm, I'm pretty sure that you can request this microfilm via inter-library loan through your local library. I hope this info helps some of you in the hinterlands. (-: -Sherryl

    2. Is anyone on the list related to the GARRISONs who lived near Big Sandy? I am looking for the parents and siblings of Charles H. (C.H.) GARRISON. He was b. 18 Nov 1826 (from tombstone) in VA (according to census report). He was in Washington County, OH in the 1850 census, living with Sarah GARRISON, b. ca 1787, probably his mother. He married Sarah Hendershott (Sally) b. 5 May 1832 in OH. They were married 11 Sep 1853 in Washington Cty, OH. Their children were Stinson B, James H. (my gg-grandfather), Matilda, Jane, Elza, Mary C, Isaac Asbury, Laura J. and R. Ellen. They and most of their children moved to Madison County, AR in the late 1880s along with my TICE ancestors and others from Ohio. C. H., Sally and most of the children are buried at Big Sandy Cemetery. Peggy Tice Rogers
